MartinT (4316), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 6, 2007 My Bottom Line:
Spicy, citrusy hops flirt with the freshly crushed cereal in this honest and unfiltered Golden Ale with a noble hop twist.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slim slice of foam skirts the cloudy blond.
-There isn’t much bitterness in the relaxed finale, which was to be expected as this is the "house blond".
-The body is mildly chewy, focusing on its lightness to increase drinkability.
-The noble hoppiness of the Hallertau and Saaz creates a herbal allusions too.
-I don’t know if this batch showed improvement over previous batches, but this was considerably better than what previous ratings suggest, imho.
On tap at the brewpub. hophead75 (1661), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Aug 11, 2007 sampled at the brewpub. Very hazy golden in color. Aroma was really not much of anything. Taste: sweet pale malts with some rubbery phenols, and spicy hops/almost like pepper. not very good. JF_GRIND (1207), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 21, 2007 My brother was on a ski trip and came across Pittsfield Brew Works. Not only did he pick up a growler for me but I got a t-shirt as well. So after only sampling one of their beers, Dohoneys Gold, I’m living Pittsfield fabulous with the official brewpub ringer tee and growler. Dohoneys Gold survived the trip to Philadelphia in the growler giving me a golden crisp, malty German Export style beer. I thought it may of been a lager, but the flavor fits the Blonde Ale style. The blurb on the side of the growler said the brewers met in a suburban Philadelphia brewery, which I found ironic as how their beer came back to the City of Brotherly Love. jjpm74 (2899), Connecticut, USA Apr 19, 2006 Pours almost yellow with a white head. Tastes and smells malty with pepper, sugar and some tartness on the taste. DYCSoccer17 (2012), Davis, California, USA Oct 6, 2005 On tap at the brewpub with a 4oz sample. Perfumey and aromatic. Smells like an old-church-lady perfume with a slight sugary aroma. Mildly hazy yellow color with a small white head. Sweet, malty, smooth start, turning a bit stickly and honey-like to finish. The BMC crowd-pleaser.
