PhatB420 (37), Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA Mar 3, 2008 solid IPA, a strong hop presence if you get a well brewed batch. Maybe more of a hop explosion would put this over the top. MartinT (4307), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 6, 2007 My Bottom Line:
Thyme-like herbal and flowery hops contribute lots of personality to this round and sometimes incohesive American IPA.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the cloudy amber.
-This complex hoppiness also develops earthy, citrusy and wooden notes, ending in a minty spicy bitterness. Strawberry undertones are even perceived.
-The body is rather portly for the style, but just a tad of supporting caramel malt is tasted.
-The lively carbonation aptly makes the hefty body drinkable.
-The nose is not as prolific as the style asks for, imho.
-This is very much in the Willimantic-style of IPA; quite unfiltered, with lots of juicy and complex hoppiness and a curvaceous body, but this one isn’t quite as brimming with life and coherent as those which come from that fantastic Connecticut brewpub.
On tap at the brewpub. (Rating #1193) hophead75 (1648), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Aug 10, 2007 on tap in the new back room of the brewpub. Lightly hazy orange in color with a medium off white head, which sticks pretty nicely. Aroma is citrus, but not resinous or very heavy. Taste is citrus with a moderate pine bitterness throughout the taste. Body is medium, with enough malt to back it up. Pretty decent IPA. jjpm74 (2878), Connecticut, USA Apr 19, 2006 On cask at the brewpub. Pours red with a creamy off white head. Smells nicely hoppy with some sage undertones. Tastes hoppy with a surprisingly thick malty background. A very solid IPA.
