Woooow, lovely beer from a lovely place. The whole ambiance here at Medvedgrad makes this beer even better. The color of the beer is a lovely dark rube red. It’s amazing. The beer has quite some cloudiness. In top of the beer here is a nice soft layer of brown soft foam. The smell of the beer is just how I like it. It has that sweet hoppy thing. It reminds of strawberry jam, passion fruits and some more tropical fruits. The smell has a nice sweetness and a nice bitterness to it. The taste is amazing to. There is a nice bitterness and a lovely sweetness. It’s in perfect balance. The nice roasty touch and the slight strawberry thing are very good friends. I like it s lot. The finish has a lovely chocolate bitter taste. Amazing.

500ml bottle from Billa supermarket, Zagreb (11.99 kuna):
Quite a nice dark style lager with plenty of caramel malts & nice, darker malts & fruits in there that keep things balanced & interesting. There was a pleasant hint of coffee to proceedings & I was surprised at how easy it was to drink with help from the creamy palate. Definitely one well worth seeking out if you ever find yourself in the north of Croatia & one I’m glad I stumbled across.

Rich smooth and chocolatey brew, this was probably the best beer I had in Croatia. The flavour was very full and bursting with chocolate and molasses and the balanced finish was very moreish. One to sit and drink. Top stuff. (Draught at Medvedgrad, Zagreb)

This was my favorite beer from Medvegrad since 2004., rating it only now. Dark brown with orange tint, off white to tan lasting head. Lagerish aroma, hay and malt, hints of roast in the background. Roasty character, malty, caramel, nuts and some chocolate in the finish. Medium carbonation, medium body. A proper example of style.

I drank this after the mediocre Pšenično Pivo, and it restored my shaken faith in the brewpub. Dark/near black red, with a thick persistant head that left tons of lacing. The aroma was hard to detect, and I got mostly dust and a bit of malt. The taste is really pleasant and full - dried figs, liquorice and chocolate, with no detectable hops .I didn’t note the aftertaste. Good stuff.
