3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
500 mL bottle. Pours a clear golden with a large white head. Mild tart wheat aroma hinting at smoke. Light wheat flavor with smoky tones and a light tartness. It’s okay, but not really exciting nor to my taste.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
8/6/12. 500mL bottle from Grassroots. Hazy golden pour with a nice khaki head. Under the light I see my glass has crazy globs of floating goo, like snot or jellyfish. Pellicle? Light lemon and sweetness in the aroma with plenty of sweet smokiness. Slightly more tart flavor again with lemon and sweet smokiness. Interesting.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle. pours a dark orange copper hue with a quickly fading offwhite head. aroma of subtle smoked beef jerky, melon sweetness, and earthy sweet banana bread dough. the typical smoked and berliner weiss notes are faint, and somewhat muddled together with a light rustic peach sweetness. old dusty lemongrass. low carbonation. though i didn’t quite no what to expect, i was excited to try this new beer, especially since professor pokemon’s berliner weiss is an old favorite. but this fell a bit flat. too much muddled sweet melon. missing a lot of what i love about the smoked and berliner styles. oh well.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours unfiltered gold with a hue of orange. Aroma of smoke, beach wood a la rauchbier, with hints of peppery rye and lactic acid. A delicate balance of flavors greets the palate: smoke, rye, lemon, caper. Smooth finish with just a bit of lingering bitterness. This is a very unique beer that would be mind blowing with smoked salmon.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
500mL Bottle at Track 84 - Warwick, RI. Aroma of distant baba ganouj came with salted lemon and grain sugars. Flavors were much, much, much lighter than I had anticipated. It’s a delicate, but eminently drinkable and enjoyable true "session" beer. The crisp, prickly sour mash creates a nice light acid that blurs into a hint of smoke, kind of like potatoes on the grill or eggplants, followed by rich, earthy grain and juicy Noble hop quenching sensation. Very well executed. I love the elegant flourish through many different flavors and sensations this gives. Complex for such lightness.

21/07 GT at Richtar Jakub, 0.5 l bottle. Ever since joining on RB and reading about more elusive, extinct styles I was dreaming that this one would be revived. And it eventually happened, but unfortunately revivals were hardly available until this one, so I thank to jfb for bringing it to the Grand Tasting. It poured hazy orange body with small head. Lightly smoked wood, citrus fruity and .a bit yeast in aroma. Flavor was also lightly smoked, but much more tart than aroma would suggest. Citrus fruits are dominant and tartness is very elegant. Herbal hop bitterness adds to this melting pot, all very balanced and quite subtle. Medium bodied with astringent finish, where also lot of peat were felt. Smoked sour hopped wheat ale...exactly what it sounds, well crafted, refreshing and a wonderful experience.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color with a minmal head but lots of bubble.... Aromas are subtle but nice hints of wood, smoke, wheat and a touch of tart fruit. On the palate its also pretty subtle but lots of complexity lies within the subtleties. Good carbonation with a light to medium mouthfeel... Earthy tart flavors lead into a smokey fruit driven mid palate that rounds out into a wheat soaked medium hop bitterness in the finish. Probably one of the most refreshing smoked beers Ive had the pleasure of trying.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
16.9 oz bottle. Been apprehensive to try this for a couple weeks now, because I’ve never heard of a smoked sour wheat ale. Good thin white head, leaving good lace. Clear golden color. For what it is, it’s pretty well-done. Equal parts sour, smokey, and wheaty. Works much better together than I expected. It’s a lightly sour taste, not over-the-top, with a bit of smokey sourness through the finish. Light wheat ale bread aroma in there too. Crisp carbonation, lighter body. More dry finish. Aroma might be a bit light, but taste is great. Nice lightly smokey kinda tart aftertaste. Really interesting and unique beer.
