3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DYCSoccer17 (3012) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 14, 2013500mL bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma on this is lightly to moderately smoky. There is also a light underlying sweet, floral, cereal like maltiness, too. Light wheatiness. Slightly hazy golden-yellow body with a smallish, wear white head that dissipates quickly. Starts with a tartness, which is a bit astringent. Becomes a little smoked in the middle, before some cereal like chewy malt sweetness comes through at the end. Lots of Corn Flakes Cereal flavors late. The astringency kind of overpowers the smoke. This a very interesting beer, and quite enjoyable.

NYC Trip Beer #14. First beer at Tørst. Yes, I went to Wikipedia to be able to cut and paste that Scandinavian letter. Pours the color or an overripe pear. The nutty smell reminds me of the scent near the basement bar at my grandmother’s house. Odd, I know. Has a wonderful dry flavor with an effervescent mouthfeel. Draft - Tørst - New York, NY

Half liter bottle from Beer Run. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized fizzy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of wheat, caramel, faint smoke.. The taste is smoke, pale wheat malts, stone fruits, more smoke in the finish along with some raisin and herbal hops. Lightly tart. Medium bodied. Decent.

500 ml bottle. Pours a hazy straw color with a fizzy white head of foam. Aroma is lactic tartness with a leafy, wheaty characteristic. Taste is not nearly as tart as the aroma indicated. Spritzy on the tongue. An alright beer, bit not something I would want again.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 krumbum (30) - truckee, California, USA - MAY 3, 2013
It starts off with a slight tart smell that transitions to a very dough yeast scent. It is a cloudy amber color with constant tiny bubbles rising through it, Taste tartness over all with hints of yeast wheat and smoke, would have liked them to be a little more present. The mouth feel is great refreshing while a slight roughness traces over the roof of your mouth and your tongue. The after taste leaves a yeasty coat that is enhanced by running your tongue over the surfaces. like stepping on the sand as a wave recedes. Over all it would be great if the smoke and wheat was a little more present but still and outstanding beer.

Bottle pours a hazy golden/orange with a small white head. Aroma of bubble gum, apple cores, and wheat. Taste has a light smoke, rotten fruit, and bitter green apple peel.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 emacgee (3433) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - APR 22, 2013
Draft at Milltown: Pours a very soft and pale straw yellow with two fingers of dense and sticky white head. Nose is very very nice, sweet hop notes and a touch of smoke show through with some bready notes and a hint of acidity. Flavor shows an unimaginably balanced blend of acidity and smoke character with a definitive sweetness and citrusy hop character. Light bodied and dry.

Pours an orangish yellow color. Fairly hazy. Slightly off-white head. Kinda rocky. Fades pretty quickly. Not a very pretty beer, but it’s not an important consideration to me. The aroma is smoke with some spicy, mineral-ish hops. There’s a touch of sourness and a kinda stale malt flavor. Very mild. Taste is a bit better. It’s mildly tart with some nice background wheat and malt sweetness. Low level of bitterness. Good mix of wheat and hop spiciness with yeast or, maybe, actual spicing. Sort of a grassy, wheaty finish. Some funky, earthy flavors are also in the mix. Mild woody smoke. A little too much sweetness for my palate or I’d go higher with my score. Mouthfeel is a bit full. I’d prefer the beer to be a touch crisper, but the smoke might make that kinda odd. Relatively low carbonation. This was a fun beer to try, but it’s just a bit mild, and the malt sweetness doesn’t quite seem right. I also wonder if a fresher bottle would have a little more hop kick to it, as the label alludes to hops as a highlight and they don’t really come across with much strength. Still, I’m always happy to try lesser known and historical styles.

On tap at the local option. Pour is fairly cloudy medium gold with a fine bubbled white head in this glass. Retention is poor the nose is Apple skin, smoke notes, mild florals, and light herbals. The flavor profile is.heavier on the beechwood smoked malts, light florals, wheat notes, and Apple skin here. It’s light bodied, mildly hopped, and it has a dry finish. Interesting
