Tap at brewery. Pours dark brown with fizzy beige head. Aroma is lightly roasted malts, earthy notes, light oak, and dark fruit esters. Flavor is dry malts, light roast, light hops, and dark fruit notes; dry, oak finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Growler from the brewery. Black with a thick rocky tan head. Aroma is red wine, saison yeast and strawberry jam. Taste follows suit but adds some roasted malt and a little more emphasis on the wine in the finish. Surprisingly rich palate with moderate carbonation. Very good.

12oz pour at the brewery. Pours a clear black with some filmy head. Noise has some toast, some malt, some dried fruit, a little red grape, lightly vegetal. Flavor is similar, malty, toasted bread crust, some dark fruit, plum, raisin. Medium bodied finish. Cool idea.

Growler shared by Terry. Pours clear black with a large, creamy tan head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast, chocolate, and coffee malt with prunes, earthy hops, dates and figs. Flavor is malt forward with spices, dark fruits, medium dark malt, earthy and herbal hops. Full body and medium carbonation.
