Pour is roasted black with a burnt white head. Nose has a strong whiskey presence. This specific barrel has really stuck with this beer. There is some peaty malt and a fair bit of malt sweetness, smells like lots of sugar. Taste is as anticipated, a bit sweet. This reminds me a little of BA batch 9000 but the barrel isnít as expressive or well integrated. Taste is lots of charred wood and scotch. The malt component is simple, overly sweet, under attenuated. Brown sugar, candied sugar, sweet berry sugars. Medium to full body, a little thin in the finish with softer carb and a slick feel.

Snifter at the brewery. Dark Cola. Bourbon, alcohol, candy aroma. Taste is gummy candy, alcohol punch, toffee, sweet. Medium carb, a bit of syrup coating. Complex. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz glass at the brewpub. Pours an oily looking amber with zero head. Nose of fusel alcohol, wood pulp, malt, pine. Flavor is similar, some malt, some citrus but a lot of booze and a little industrial. Thick finish. The only beer I didnít like.

Dark thick and bourbony. Really interesting and complex...dark fruity boozy dessert.

pour from a 1 liter growler into pizza boy snifter. Appears a very dark almost pitch black with no light getting through. thin half finger of head that fades quickly into a slim halo ring around the glass. Nose: Smells of dark figgy fruits, bourbon, vanilla, some very slight funk, chocolate, maybe a bit of toffee. taste: mainly I get the bourbon and chocolate, fades into a little bit of a solvency and bourbon notes. mouthfeel is a bit on the thinner side.

This beer blew my mind (well actually my palate). The base of a huge IPA, with saison yeast, and the addition of cocoa nibs. Boom! Strong, a bit funky in the nose and spice from the yeast, and just a fun brew.

Growler from Steve P. Pours a dark amber with little head. The aroma was really nice, malty sweet with a hint of pine and citrus. The flavor was nice to start with the malt but the alcohol was a bit overpowering.

Served on-tap at Alís of Hampden.

A - Pours pitch black with a small half finger tall off white head, dissipating to a light ring around the edges, leaving spotty trails of lace down the glass.

S - Smells of woody oak, raw bourbon, chocolate malt, faint saison funk, some apricot fruitiness and a dash of hops. So damn much going on in this one, really hard to pick it all apart.

T - Starts off with a mix of chocolate malt, oak and warming bourbon slowly giving way to hints of dulled apricots, light hop bitterness and some mild saison funk. Finish is sweet with plenty of heat, lingering long after the finish. Quite the mix of flavors, each sip bringing something new to the forefront, just not sold on that being a good thing.

M - Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Sweet, bitter, boozy feel throughout. Almost tastes sour but I donít think it actually is, more the combo of flavors clashing with each other.

O - Much like the brewery, I am not even sure what to classify this as. It has so much going on that it is really hard to nail down all of the flavors from sip to sip. One of the most...unique beers I have had to date.
