3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap sampler at Al’s of Hampden during vacation from June 19, 2012. I couldn’t find Pizza Boy on the site at the time, so thanks to jsmerig to start the beer ratings. Yellow colored beer with no head and not much carbonation. Light aroma of hops that was unexpected and light biscuit taste. I didn’t even know it was a pale lager!

Solid lager, bready body with a crisp hop finish. Kind of a funny aftertaste for me.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours unclear hazy golden sunset with a bit of an orange hue with a small off white ring head. Aroma is light crispy wheat like malts. Flavor brings some light orange notes with a smooth juicy body for the style. Starts small but ends nicely.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Golden Crust - Red Lion, PA. Pours light golden, small head, little lacing. Aroma of bread, sweet malt, light citrus. Taste is mostly sweet with a slight apricot bitterness. Light body, moderate carbonation, mouth feel is a little thin. Finishes somewhat dry, with notes of hay, grass, bread and light citrus. Average for me but great example of the style.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Light amber color with a white head. Aroma of bready malts, grains, moderate hop character. Honestly, not much memorable about this beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz pour at the brewery. Pours a clear gold with some fizzy white head. Nose is standard for a lager, some cooked corn, some white flour, a little paper, some straw. Flavor is lightly crisp, a little lemon, straw, a little corn sweetness. Clean finish. A good, plain lager.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap. Pours a clear light gold body with a small fizzy white head. The nose is pretty light, just a bit of pale malt and some light but very bright citrusy hops. The flavor is clean and super crisp with a nice snappy hoppiness on the finish. Light bodied an super easy drinking with soft fizzy carbonation. Probably the best Pale Lager I’ve ever had. Lots of flavor, little alcohol.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at the source. Hazy bright yellow color, thick white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of very fruity rising bread dough. Taste has lots of mixed tropical fruits, hay, straw, nicely balanced. Holy cow, if every pale lager tasted like this, I’d drink them all the time. In fact, I spent the first 20 years of my life drinking pale lagers because nothing else was easily available. If only this had existed then....

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 26, 2013 First and foremost, this is for the new blue collar lager, not the old version.
A - Pours clear golden yellow with a small half finger tall white head, dissipating down to a light film, leaving spotty streaks of lace down parts of the glass.
S - Smells of lightly sweet grain, bready pils malt, spicy and citric hops and not much else. A little slow at the beginning it starts to come out once it warms up. Smells really fresh and inviting.
T - Starts off with some of the sweetness from the malt and some of the spicy hops quickly giving way to some dulled fruitiness and the chewy pils malt. Quite balanced throughout with nothing standing above anything else. Finish is pretty clean with only a bit of lingering chewiness. Like the nose it just tastes like a nice, refreshing lager.
M - Light body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, mildly hoppy feel throughout. This stuff is way too easy to drink, my glass disappeared super fast on this hot day.
O - I liked the original version but this is even better. It is just as easy drinking but the lighter body just works better. No one flavor dominates making it disappear quite quickly. Another lighter option in a sea of big Pizza Boy beers.

Not a bad beer by any means but not my style. I do think its a good idea that they have this as an option for non craft drinkers.
