3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 26, 2013 Served on nitro-tap at Alís of Hampden.
A - Pours clear amber orange with a small film of white head, dissipating down to a very small ring around the outside of the glass, leaving no lace at all down the glass. Nice color, thats about it.
S - Smells of warm, rich bourbon vanilla, oak, caramel, toffee and plenty of booze. Some fruity esters come through as it warms up but the boozy bourbon dominates from start to finish.
T - Starts off with a mix of caramel and vanilla sweetness quickly being enveloped by the strong bourbon heat that never really goes away. Hints of oak, mild roast and some light fruitiness offer some extra flavor but pale in comparison to the booze. Finish is sweet and boozy, lingering on the palate for quite awhile after the finish.
M - Medium body with moderately low carbonation. Sweet heat feel from start to finish. The lack of carbonation really begins to hurt this one toward the end of the glass.
O - This one was pretty good. It needs a bit more carbonation but it has a ton of awesome flavors and barrel treatment. It is still a little rough around the edges but it definitely has some potential, I look forward to trying a bottle of this in the future once it has some time to mellow.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Barley wines are one of my favorite styles of beers, but this one just didnít do it for me. The bourbon was too strong that it overtook both the nose and the palate. Had to sip it like hard liquor...and I donít like hard liquor.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer is pretty hazy thick amber with a small off white head. Aroma is sweet, resin malty with some brown sugar, and the booze is definitely tame in nose and flavor. The flavor brings light sweet malts, not too thick at all, with some fruity syrup hop notes that linger on the palate smoothly.
