2.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20 jhliesen (607) - West Melbourne, Florida, USA - JAN 29, 2013
On tap sampler at Al’s of Hampden during vacation from June 19, 2012. I couldn’t find Pizza Boy on the site at the time, so thanks to jsmerig to start the beer ratings. First of all, I don’t like mango, so I must of ordered this to fill out the sampler. Cloudy orange color without any head. The aroma was total citrus and a super sweet flavor right from the start. Finishes with a bitter, fruit feeling. No idea of the alcohol content till I read it in ratebeer.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DiarmaidBHK (2270) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 12, 2012
Draft at Al’s of Hampden. Pours orange with a thin white head. Not much on the nose. Nice floral and fruity notes on the tongue. It hides it’s nearly 10% very well. Finish is fairly clean. Solid but not spectacular especially given the style.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 orangesol (451) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 6, 2012
Served on-tap at Al’s of Hampden.
A - Pours hazy orange with a nice one and a half finger tall white head leaving spotty lace down the glass.
S - Smells of bright citric hops, mango pulp, some malty sweetness and a touch of spicy yeast. The aroma’s work very well together, very inviting nose.
T - Starts off with some nice mango sweetness quickly giving way to hints of pungent citric and grassy hops, light spice and a bit of malty sweetness. Very little, if any alcohol detectable. Finish is bitter, lingering on the pallet for some time.
M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Full, hoppy feel with just enough sweetness to round it out. Very little booze detected.
O - I liked this one more than the Troegs version. It was easier to drink and the booze was less prevalent. Another winner for Pizza Boy.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jsmerig (798) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 24, 2012
On tap at Al’s of Hampden. Pours a cloudy brown orange with a slight citrus hop aroma. Taste is sweet up front and immediately overpowered by floral hop. The mango comes through slightly in the beginning, but fades as the hops take over.
