The newest version of HopTart fermented on top Chardonnay grape must and dry hopped with Citra, its quite sour and delicious.

Growler shared by Bruce. Aroma is cantaloupe, canned peaches, and a nice glass of grapefruit juice. Pours bright orange with slight white lacing. Taste is super tart lemon zest, peaches, melon, papaya, and a nice sticky grapefruit hop finish. Very tart and wonderfully bright. I was really impressed with this brew.

Growler from the brewery. Clear glowing amber with a thin white head. Aroma is musty with some grape and grassy hop notes. Taste adds some lacto and acetone with a lemony finish. Very intensely sour. Prickly carb and a long finish. Very intense but really tasty once your mouth adjusts to it.

Hazy gold, off white head. Tart, sour, wood, grapes and light hops. Very smooth on the palate, tart, hint of acidity, grapes, and wood.

64 oz. growler – acquired via trade. Aroma has a sharp acidic twang with noticeable white wine grape skins, funky musty barrels, light candy quality, dole pineapple juice, light yogurt. As it warmed up more of the pineapple came through – not sure if it’s from the dry hopping or the sour bugs. The beer pours clear golden color with huge soapy white head. I was surprised that the carbonation held up through the growler’s travels. Eventually the head settled out and the beer looked still as can be. No lacing, faint legs. Taste is tart pineapple, some earthy staleness, grape skins, must, very light citrus, light grasss, light lactic quality. Body is medium-light with medium carbonation and a dry, somewhat bitter finish. The aftertaste is sweet pineapple, and some sweet-tart candy sugars. At first the sourness of the beer was a bit shocking to the palate, but it faded and left a pleasant tartness, but the beer does dry out the mouth quite a bit. Overall, a pretty interesting sour beer with the grape must adding noticeable unique flavor to go along with a light citrus and grassy finish. I did not really love the pineapple sweetness as it warmed, but the beer was unique and enjoyable.

32oz growler in a tulip. Pours copper with a small head. Aroma of light sour and funky notes, light grapes, light hops, light malts, and some fruits. Flavor the same but the sourness really comes through. Average texture. The smell of the beer doesn’t really tell you how sour it is, but the hops are not really present. Still good though.

Growler. Orange pour with white head. Wine and oak, Brett, and light citrus flavors. Aroma is same with a touch of off tone(acetic).

Served on-tap at Al’s of Hampden.

A - Pours hazy orange with a small half finger tall white head, quickly dissipating down to nothing at all, leaving little to no lace down the glass. Looks pretty dead in the glass.

S - Smells of damp basement must, Chardonnay grape juice, mild citric hops, lightly toasted grains and some lactic sourness. Slow to develop but pretty nice once it does, a bit heavy on the sourness.

T - Starts off with a mix of grape juice, basement must and strong lactic sourness slowly being joined by the fruity citric hops, grassy earth and some drying tannins. Finish is quite tart, leaving the palate dried long after the finish.

M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Dry, tart feel from start to finish. Not the easiest beer to consume thanks to the added sourness but not impossible either.

O - This one is different but familiar at the same time. It tastes like the old version, but it doesn’t. This version has more grape flavor and dryness but also is a bit more sour. Either way it is another interesting sour from Pizza Boy.
