Growler pour, courtesy of Simon. Poured black with thick brown head. Nose of nail polish remover, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate. I was looking forward to this one but definitely off flavors. Prominent nail polish remover aroma and taste.

Served on-tap at Al’s of Hampden.
A - Pours jet black with a small half finger tall tan head, dissipating down to nothing at all, leaving little to no lace down the glass.
S - Smells of milk chocolate, vanilla, coffee, lots of dark roast and a ton of warm bourbon heat. Fairly well balanced initially growing increasingly hot as it sits in the glass.
T - Starts off with some vanilla and chocolate sweetness quickly giving way to hints of dark roast, coffee grounds and the ever present heat from the PVW bourbon. Finish is best described as sweet heat, with the emphasis on heat, lingering on the palate long after consumption.
M - Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Smooth feel with some residual sweetness and plenty of booze lingering on the palate.
O - This has all the markings of a great bourbon barrel stout, it’s just a little too raw still. Nowhere near as hot as it used to be but it’s still a touch too much for me. Give it a try it if you get the chance.

On tap at Pizza Boy. Nose and flavor are quite heavy in the Pappy character. It’s not nearly as smooth as the Both Barrels. Pretty heavy roast and some dark chocolate.

Oh hell yeah, cant go wrong with a Pap induced beer from Terry yo. 1 liter growler shared by Simon with Frank, Bill, Allen, Christine, Liam, Brian, Tim, and couple more peeps. Poured a well carbonated deep black with medium to thick mocha head. Aromas and flavor of chocolate, roasted grains, tasty hops, caramel, rich wood, whiskey, burnt sugars, and cereal oats. What a beer, the pappy comes through beautifully while still maintaining a hoppy profile. I could drink this on any cold day or night. Cheers.
