Draft at the source courtesy of Terry and Al, thanks very much! Black color, brown head. Aroma of fresh french press coffee, cocoa, subtle licorice. Taste is rich freshly roasted dark coffee beans, anise, dark fruit. Amazing stuff.

Growler @ RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting. Black pour with a khaki head. Lots of chocolate and coffee on the nose. Some vanilla, burnt sugar, and a bit of caramel. Nice spiciness from the coffee. Flavor is pleasantly sweet without being cloying. Some mild bitterness of roasted malt and lots of coffee. A bit of vanilla. Some caramel and burnt sugar sweetness. Nice beer.

Growler shared by Terry. Pours opaque black with a medium, creamy tan head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast, chocolate, and heavy coffee, dates and figs, earthy and spicy hops. Flavor is malt dominant, heavy coffee, dark fruits, light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

Growler... Motor oil-black with a small, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The aroma is a blend of peat smoke, dark-roast coffee grounds and burnt malts. Full-bodied with a sticky mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Sweeter than the base beer, this treatment provides a mixture of brownies, deeply-roasted coffee beans, fudge and charcoal. Lengthy, scorched, bittersweet, mocha finish. Growler courtesy of biggsbowler!

Tasted at RBSG grand tasting. 32oz growler. Black color. Thin brown head. Bits of lace. Awesome big coffee in the nose. Good roast malt, some dark chocolate. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft lighter carbonation, more dry finish. Good chewiness to it. Moderate bitter taste, light sweet. Hides alcohol well, just a very light bite. Awesome stuff.

Draft at the brewpub. Nicely served in a glass coffee mug, and one could easily confuse this with a cold coffee. There’s a most definite coffee tug on this, thick and roasty all the way. Great blend. (#5765, 9/29/2014)

1L growler. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black, body with a small tight bubbled dark brown head. The nose is just full-on coffee goodness, smells more like spent coffee grounds than it does beer. Intense fresh roasted coffee over a roasty malt base. Minimal alcohol notes given the ABV. The flavor i just as intense on the coffee as the aroma. Rich and full of fresh roasted coffee with a nice bitterness from both the malt and the coffee. A little more alcohol in the flavor than the aroma let on, but not overly noticeable. Finishes with a heavy roastiness before the coffee takes over. Medium bodied with soft gentle carbonation. Really nice coffee beer, but then again, I’m a huge sucker for coffee beers. One of the most intensely coffee forward beers I’ve ever had.

On tap at Al’s / Pizza Boy. Really amazing coffee to the nose along with cream, vanilla, and milk chocolate. Great coffee and body is exquisite. Creamy with light vanilla touch. Compares very well to Terry’s Double Coffee Stout while at Bullfrog.
