4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Growler poured into a wine-style tasting glass. Pours black with some brown hues and a tan head. Aroma has huge amazing notes of roast and coffee, along with some caramel and chocolate. On the taste, big amazing roast and coffee notes again, with caramel, chocolate, and espresso. Full body with a semi-dry finish, very smooth. The coffee is really well done in this one.

Dark black color with very thin head. Huge coffee and dark roast aroma. A bit cloying but pairs exquisitely with a small dish a vanilla ice cream for desert or maple bacon with pancakes

Pours black with a thin mocha head. Aroma has outstanding roasty coffee. Flavor follows suit but is a little too coffe bitter for me...id like some sweetness in there. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with a lingering bitter coffee finish.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
1L growler. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black, body with a small tight bubbled dark brown head. The nose is just full-on coffee goodness, smells more like spent coffee grounds than it does beer. Intense fresh roasted coffee over a roasty malt base. Minimal alcohol notes given the ABV. The flavor i just as intense on the coffee as the aroma. Rich and full of fresh roasted coffee with a nice bitterness from both the malt and the coffee. A little more alcohol in the flavor than the aroma let on, but not overly noticeable. Finishes with a heavy roastiness before the coffee takes over. Medium bodied with soft gentle carbonation. Really nice coffee beer, but then again, Iím a huge sucker for coffee beers. One of the most intensely coffee forward beers Iíve ever had.

Pours a rich burnt wood black with a fizzy dark tan head. Lots of coffee in the nose with a rich chocolaty nose and some molasses. Rich coffee flavor and smooth body with a touch of alcohol. A touch of tiramisu as well. Medium full body with a touch of alcohol.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2014 Growler: very, very dark brown, basically pitch black as it sits in the glass with some deep ruby at the edges only. A light-tan head with a greyish tint shows low retention and leaves little lacing behind. The aroma is big and heavy; huge coffee beans, dark and roasted while lightly sweet underneath with bits of cocoa on the back-end. The dense coffee and balance of roasty vs. sweet is awesome. The taste is just the same - a perfect balance of roasted coffee beans and milky coffee sweetness with a little bit of chocolate that resonates in the finish. Very light hop character mid-palate, with some ashy and dry hops. Would like a little thicker mouth feel, but itís still nice and creamy. One of my favorite coffee stouts - even better than FBS.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler courtesy of Randall. Dark brown pour with a mocha head. All kinds of coffee aromas. Milder roasted malt, caramel, and bakers chocolate notes as compared to the base beer. A little less complex with bold black coffee highlights. Decent body and mouthfeel. Personally I prefer the base beer to this variant.
