This one poured a very dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma was of fresh roasted coffee poured on top of milk chocolate, inviting for sure. Flavor was big ridgy chocolate notes up front follow by a smack in the face of freshly brewed espresso. Not green pepper notes, no sign of alcohol, perfect mouthfeel and Carb level too. A damn good coffee beer.

Tap from the brewery. Pours a dark opaque black with tan colored head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malts. Taste of chocolate, a bit of booze, and coffee laying through until the end.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a fizzy light brown head. Tastes like strong black coffee, bitter, burnt toast, strong booze. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like strong butter coffee and burnt toast, alcohol.

Tap at brewery. Pours deep, dark brown with fizzy tan head. Aroma is roasted and chocolate malts, espresso, earthy notes, prunes, and faint raisins. Flavor is dry, roast malts, dark chocolate, some earthy bitterness, faint dark fruit esters, and coffee; dry, roast finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Growler - pitch black pour with mocha head. Nose of heavy roast and tons of coffee. Maybe a hint of vanilla. Taste follows the nose with lots of coffee. There is a little sweetness to it that really puts this over the top. One of the best pure coffee stouts I have had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

32oz growler in a tulip. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate, a little bit of dark fruits, and light dough. Flavor the same with a great blend and strong coffee. Smooth texture. A good beer.

Growler pour. Black pour with tan head. Huge roasted coffee aroma. Flavor is dominated my super roasted coffee. Wish I could substitute this for my morning coffee.

Growler... Motor oil-black with a small, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The aroma is a blend of peat smoke, dark-roast coffee grounds and burnt malts. Full-bodied with a sticky mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Sweeter than the base beer, this treatment provides a mixture of brownies, deeply-roasted coffee beans, fudge and charcoal. Lengthy, scorched, bittersweet, mocha finish. Growler courtesy of biggsbowler!

Pours thick dark black coffee with a big creamy dark cocoa colored head. Aroma brings the coffee big in the nose with roasted malts and dark cacao. Flavors are rich with big coffee and chocolate on a creamy thick but not overbearing body. The coffee is so smooth and not bitter at all, blended perfectly on every sense.

black with thin ring. Coffee rules nose, huge after Earl with some ash, faintly green. Front palate is all coffee, seamless transition into a chocolate mid palate, light grinds and bitterness through the full, sweet decadent end. Best coffee beer I’ve had in years.
