enjoyed on tap at carlsblad location. An imperial red, malty and hoppy. Orange red coloured body. Above average mouthfeel. Good bitterness, resiny, piney, a bit of a palate eraser. Good drinkabiiity.

Dark copper pour. Dark malty flavors. Some back end hops but nothing outrageous. Hides the 10% very well. All around a very good beer.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 peteinSD (523) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 9, 2012
Brown/slightly red pour with a ring of tan foam on the side of the glass. Aroma is pleasant roast, bit of charred malt, soft hop bitterness, and pine. Taste is light hop bitterness and pine up front followed by a roasted malt and caramel flavor before finishing with a lightly sweet hop bitterness. Even, almost creamy mouthfeel. Balanced and tasty. Good beer.

Draught at Toronado SD, phone rate. Clear bright garnet up to light, one finger beige, fair retention and creamy. Pine hops with citrus rinds behind, moderate scorched caramel and toasted malts. Flavor isn’t too sweet, though it is plenty chewy. Thanks hops! They come forth the same as the aroma--pine and citrus rinds. The finish is semi-dry, bitterness peaked at a 5, light alcohol. Full body with low prickly carbonation, yet fairly smooth. Probably not in its peak as the hops weren’t that bright, but not bad for not my face style.

On tap at Toronado San Diego: Aroma has a rich and sweet scent of syrup with only a touch of hops. The color is a dark mahogany color and a thin layer of head rests on top. The flavor is rich and strong and has a hoppy profile with a base of syrupy malts.

Copper-brown pour with white head. Nose is complex with raisin, grassy hop. Medium to full bodied with complex brown surgar, allspice, date, and citrus/grassy hop. Delicious.

draft at Toronado... huge pint glass pour for $3!, caramel brown with a light tan head, not much to look at... oak, alcohol, caramel, very strong, reminds me of a Stone Double Bastard, ok but nothing you need a whole pint of

Reviewed from notes.
Pours a moderate amber color with a nice white head. A bit of lacing but not as much as I would expect from something this hoppy. Nose is overload of citrus and pine and is quite nice overall. The taste is a really dominated by the strong hops notes, although the flavor isn’t as prevalent as the nose. The feel is quite bitter and nice. Drinks very well and was a nice selection. Glad to have visited.
