West USA trip 2010. On tap @ Pizza Port Carlsbad. The aroma has caramel, oranges, pine. Clear, amber coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is a bit sweet, bitter and has citric and piney hops, caramel and malty fruiness (oranges). Nice good bodied beer.

Served on tap at Toronado SDThe appearance is a deep red/brown with a small off white head. Loads of hops, caramel, a really nice malt backing. Mouth is very drying and bitter but not over the top. A top notch double red.

Draught at toronado’s 23rd anniversary party. Dark red-brown with a light beige head. Rich malty aroma of caremel and chocoalte with a nice hoppy accent that is mostly piney. The flavor is robust yet not too sweet and has a nice light chocolate component that mixes with a big pine and citrus hop flavor. Not really a dark DIPA like I would expect, and leans more on malt character than hops. Good, but not my favorite of the style.

growler pours deep mahogany with a medium off white head. Aroma is earthy spice, cedar, cinnamon, peppercorns and some sweet bready malts. Flavor is a bland mix of doughy malts, bittersweet nutty character and a hot finish of spice and booze.

Growler… RBWG ‘10… Mostly clear rose-colored ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Decent retention. The aroma bestows caramel, grapefruit and tropical fruits. Medium to full-bodied with lazy carbonation. Plenty of caramel and malty sweetness in the flavor, but also a heaping helping of earthy, piney and citric hop bitterness. Leans a tad toward the sweet side of balance. Bittersweet, fairly dry finish. Kudos to CaptainCougar for bringing the growler from Carlsbad to Florida!

Growler brought in to Hangar 24 by one of our drivers, thanks Brian. Rating #67. Dense dark brown with a slight orange tint around the edges. Aroma of hops and malts melding together very nicely, slight toffee aroma as well. Slight sweetness with a nice hop bite on top of it, very tasty brew. (1159)
