July 2010. Typical Belgian aromas of banana and clove. Just slightly bitter, balancing the candy sugar taste, with cloves in the ending. Pours golden with a foamy white head.

Clear deep golden color pour has a dense, small-bubbled frothy white head with nice lacing. Aroma of sweet Belgian malt with a touch of caramel candy sugar and some light fruity esters. Body starts rich and pale malty sweet with some stickiness and complex Belgian yeasty balance toward a slightly bitter, doughy finish. A nicely done strong Belgian golden.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours with a slightly hazed golden body and a white head. Aroma of banana, coriander and vanilla. Taste is strongly of apples and apple cider, caramel, coriander, spiced cider, candi sugar. Dry and lively. Didn’t really love this one!

Tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Slight hazed pale golden pour with a tight white head. The nose is quite light. A touch of soft wheaty malt as well. Lightly bready and crackery base malt along with some soft Belgian spice. The yeast contribution is quite restrained. Light pear esters and a kiss of honey. It’s really dry on the finish. It’s a solid attempt at the style but it’s just a little too restrained on the yeast front.

Cloudy golden with a medium off white head. Sweet and yeasty nose with ripe fruits and malty notes. Flavour came out fairly sweet with yeast, fruits and malty notes. Finished kind of dry though from the hops.
