Growler @ a recent bottle share... Poured dark black with a nice forming, light khaki head. This was seriously amazing. Wonderful cold-pressed coffee notes. With a hint of roast and malt sweetness. But overall the coffee was prevalent from the start to the finish on this one. Good coffee flavors too that were bright and vibrant not just plain old coffee flavoring in this beer. Could drink again, and again.

Pitch black with a thin tan head.
Nose is coffee cake, brown sugars, dark roast malts, espresso coffee.
Taste comprises coffee, brown sugars, booze.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, light booze in the finish.
Booze well integrated, a little sweet at times but a half pint is bang tidy for this bad boy! Great stuff for a coffee beer lover like I !

Keg, chilled, half pint. Browny head doesn’t endure for long. Some sherry in the smell. Taste is fairly intense sweet coffee with a little smoke, dark chocolate and very slightly sour. Coffee dominates. Medium mouthfeel but not foamy. Pretty good stuff. Some aspects are very good and this beer would get a top mark if the flavours were slightly more complex and if there was a longer aftertaste.

On tap at Craft Beer Co. Lot of choc. Very choccy and its very choccy. And huge coffee. lovely coffee no big alcohol. Really good.

At Avery Strong Ale Fest 2013--black pour with a thin khaki head. Stupid wonderful aroma of fresh brewed black leathery coffee with a gentle dark cocoa undertone. Flavor is heavily leaning on that coffee note, with a strong coffee roastiness, a bit of fresh leather, dark semi sweet chocolate, and more coffee. I could have personally used more chocolate, but this is THE coffee beer for coffee heads.

On tap at Avery Strong Ale Fest poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of carmel, oak, coffee and bitter chocolate. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of coffee, roastiness and bakers cocoa with a smooth dry lingering coffee finish.

Tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2013. Pours a bit murky dark brown appearance with a brown head. Huge bitter coffee aroma with some chocolate and herbal notes. Flavor is full of roasty coffee, roasty malts, and some sweetness. Tasty but a bit too coffee forward for me.

Draft sample. Poured dark brown with an average light brown frothy head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate smoked, toasted malt and bacon aroma. Medium to full body with a dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet and bacon flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Complex standout beer.

On draft for GABF 2012. Pours a deep roasted coffee color with an off-white head. Nose is coffee as hell; roasted coffee, cafe con leche, vanilla, some supporting chocolate, and roasted malts blending in perfectly. Flavor is similar- huge coffee presence, cafe con leche, vanilla, chocolate, roast, and all things good. Light to medium in body and lingering coffee into the finish. How this didn’t rank a 5 on the daknole scale, I will never know!!

Roast vanilla and oak aroma that is very nice, but utterly lacking in any bacon or egg accents. Opaque black under a light brown ring. Sweet roasted barley flavour with lots of vanilla and nuts. Peanuts? Balance is a bit too far to the sweet side; could use more bittering. Medium body, low carbonation, nutty finish.
