7/1/11 notes: on tap, Beachwood Brewing. Pour is dark brown with a smallish head. Aroma has smoke, oats, black coffee. Flavor is firm blend of smoky malts, dark chocolate, creamy browned oats, lingering coffee. Bold and pronounced, this beer has that same brightness as a cup of bold black coffee in the morning. Job well done.

What can I say, Iím a sucker for awesome coffee brews, and this one is a good one. Poured rich black with nice creamy tan head, aroma brought notes of big freshly ground coffee and espresso beans, some hints of chocolate and smoke with a touch of sweet toffee as well. Taste is like drinking a really tasty iced coffee that was really well made, no off flavors or acidity, chocolate and toffee back this up but overall very coffee forward.

On tap at PP OB. Dark opaque black color with a small mocha head. Medium in body and ok on your palate. Some weak coffee notes on the nose of this beer. Flavors present of chocolate , molasses, and an off caramel sweetness. The unnatural sweet flavor and funky yeast component not too appealing. The finish fades quite quickly. Didnít like this beer a whole lot.

Sampled at gabf. Dark black pour. Big aroma of coffee toast and malt. Taste follows nose with lots of coffee and some smokiness a bit reminiscent of a rauchbier. A really big robust porter. Well done.

Sampled at GABF 2011. Dark brown to nearly black pour. Strong roasted coffee aroma. Flavor is mostly coffee with a light chocolate finish. Very nice.

I loved this beer. As a coffee nut who has managed a coffee shop and love a perfectly pulled espresso more than I love beer, this beer hit the spot. This had some nice roasty, malty flavors. Little syrupy and sweet but it was just dominated by this authentic, fresh-ground coffee flavor iíve only gotten out of beautifully pulled espresso before. The coffee in this was gorgeous and seriously resembles fresh-ground coffee. Just fantastic. Iím in love.

Draft at Pizza Port Ocean Beach with Andrew, Brendan and the big boy daddy dad Bachelor, Dallas. Pours a black body with no head. Aroma is fresh roast, sweet maple, and spice. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of maple, coffee roast, tobacco, pepper, and a touch of chocolate.

On tap at Pizza Port (Ocean Beach) with Andy, James and Dallas for Dallasí bachelor weekend. Pour is black and syrupy (maybe Iím swayed by the name of the beer) with a caramel head. Smells of farmhouse freshness. Again with the breakfast words. Silky, smooth mouthfeel for a thick beer. Good.

On tap at the brewery with the bros for dallasí bachelor party. Nose is string.. Espresso nose. Taste is more espresso, tabacco, and some sweet maple.

On tap at Pizza Port OB. Dark brown color, with a light white ring of head. Awesome coffee aroma, with roasted beans and malt. Coffee and chocolate flavors dominate throughout the flavor. The coffee is very well balanced throughout the beer, and the acidity is not overpowering as in other coffee stouts. Tasty chocolate base complements the coffee well.
