From tap at Pizza Port San Clemente. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted and mild fruity. Fruity flavoured, dark roasted malt and vague liqourice dry note. Mild bitter finish.

[5/12/16] Draught at Sour & Bitter #3 in Copenhagen. Clear deep reddish amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, a bit of toffee, a bit of butter. Sweetish flavor, caramelly, a bit toasty, with a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied.

Draft. Pours brown with a beige head. Toasted bread, mild roast and light caramel malty sweetness, followed by a quick finish with just a touch of bitterness. Decent.

Tap@Himmeriget, Copenhagen - pours dark brown verging black. Aroma and taste is sweet malty with notes of cocoa, caramel, some burnt brown sugar, light roasted, hoppy backing, pretty decent overall. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Been to the San Clemente Pizza Port three times and never seen this: crazy to try it during the RBESG 2016 in Barcelona where it was on tap at La Rovira. Deep brown with a red hue, decent sized beige head. Semi-sweet malty molasses dominate the brew with both caramel and toffee aromas/flavours overpowering any hop content: there is however a slight bitterness in the finish.

Hazy brownish red with a chocolate and clove aroma. Flavor is roasty chocolate and banana. I thought it finished a little astringent.

Draught sample at ABF on 6/16/07
Milk chocolate-colored body shows a medium clarity, with a light tan head that is short-lived, fading to cover, and allowing minimal lacing.
German chocolate cake in the nose, with hazelnut and dry roast, not too sweet (despite the cake reference), but then, not very lagerish either. I suppose there is a bit of mineral-like, crispness, but it seems a lot more like a brown ale to me. Some brown sugar sweetness creeps in with warming, but a toasty dryness is there to balance it. Esters, as others mention, are present, though I dont think it was out-of-control with them (shouldnt have any, though). Medium strength of aroma, no flaws (though esters are kind of a flaw for the style).
Rich, chocolate and caramel sit up front, slowly drying out with a touch of coffee and lots of breadiness. Decidedly more crisp than expected on the end, with dry yeast and yet a fruitiness lingering on, which I’m not so sure is not just derived from the malt. I didnt get any heavy banana and bubble gum. Body seems too soft, with the carbonation not doing enough to keep it from being a little too much on the sweet side. A great beer; I just wouldn’t pick it out as a dunkel.

On tap at Stone. Murky brown with no head. Aroma of caramel. Taste of burnt toast and banana with a figgy sweetness.
