Pours jet black with no head. Aroma of bourbon and soy sauce. Taste is dark roasted malts, sweet chocolate, vanilla, alcohol, and bourban. Warms the body. A little thin, but still awesome.

On tap @ PP Carlsbad. Squid ink pour with shades of onyx, mahogany, and mocha...a frothy latte head creates spatters, spots, and rings inside the glass. Aroma a bit more subtle than the flavor but still sublime. Molasses, cocoa, brownie batter, rich fudge, vanilla, raw oak, and caramel are all there. Nice bourbon influence adds complexity and balance versus distraction. Everything melds remarkably well. Exponentially better than the non-BA version. Milkshake consistency. Delicious!

28/12/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Bevuta al Pizza Port Tap Takeover. Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma beige-cappuccino, leggera, quasi evanescente. Al naso vaniglia, cioccolato fondente, caffè, liquirizia. In bocca è dolciastra, cioccolato fondente, caffè, ancora una punta di liquirizia, una nota etilica ben presente. Corpo pieno, consistenza cremosa, carbonazione soft. Un’altra grandiosa imperial stout!

Pours thick, viscous, black and has a big tan head. Nose is big booze bomb, vanilla, chocolate, wood, cherries, coconut. The taste is very sweet with not much bitterness except what is required to make this well balanced. The mouthfeel is silk and cream, heavy body and a long finish.

On tap at Pizza Port. Pours very dark brown, nearly black with creamy tan head. Aroma is chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and coconut. The taste follows the nose with tons of chocolate sweetness and well balanced bourbon. This was one of the best beers I have had in 2012.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours black with tan head. Nose of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, oak, and vanilla. Taste is chocolate, coffee, vanilla, oak, and subtle bourbon with a silky mouthfeel.

On tap @ CASK Pub & Kitchen, London. A black one with a small lacing tan head. Really roasted and light sweet on the aroma, lot’s of black chocolate and some light couch as well. Really good. In flavor it has lots of leather couch! Much more than the aroma. It’s thick and chewy in texture and soft to average carbonated. Lot’s of coffee roasted malt’s in the taste combined with chocolate and more leather couch. Reminds me of dark homemade chocolate ice cream in a way I guess. Tasty and really good! 22.07.2012
