(Draught) Pours black with a brown head. The aroma holds clear notes of boozy, buttery, vanilla-ish, woodsy and coconut-driven bourbon up front with undertones of toffee, dark caramel, coffee, chocolate, salt liquorice, tobacco, brown sugar, dark fruits and dark berries. The flavour is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of vanilla, butter, coconut, toffee, wood, chocolate, coffee, liquorice, alcohol, brown sugar, dark fruits and dark berries. The mouthfeel is soft, round, oily, light sticky and smooth with a light carbonation. Bourbon and mild roast on the finish. Medium to full bodied.

Oak and vanilla flavor, smooth creamy, milky, malty, salty, some alcohol, figs, raisins, some dades, hop notes, vinous. Long vinous chocolate flavor, cocoa and fogs. Just wonderful!

On tap at the brewery. Pours a jet black color with a tiny white head. The aroma is rich earthy barrel and roast. The flavor is rich, coffee, dry, some earthy, more mellow than the non-BA version, light wood, sweet. Good.

Pizza Port Carlsbad. Aroma is fantastic. Definitely smell before drinking, then repeat. Nice balance of strong flavors with bourbon but maybe a little overdone on the bourbon.nevertheless a great barrel aged stout. Still can’t get over the near perfect aroma.

Tap at Carlsbad. Black with a one finger tan head, pretty good retention. Big boubon nose with a fair amount of anise and dough. Flavor is lotsa bourbon and chocolate , doesn’t seem to have the bittering hop presence of the base. Semi-dry with some roasty bitterness at a 3, some lightly harsh alcohol. Full body with low carb. Not too bad.

viscous black, lots of roasted coffee and chocolate flavors, complimented nicely by the bourbon flavors. Little hint of the the 11%

On tap at obriens. Black with brown head that disappeared as quickie as it came. Nose sweet warm malt, like maple, and sweet booze. Taste is monstrously big and rich and thick. Coffee and chocolate sharpness with only a hint of sweet after the first taste. Long lingering malt ball and coffee. Lovely. I could drink a LOT of this.

Black with a thick foamy light brown head. Earthy grainy slightly sour bourbon aroma. Sweet milk chocolate cereal grain and super smooth bourbon taste with a bready oaky finish. Creamy lightly sour palate Excellent.

Draft @ pp carlsbad. Black beer, super cute head...tan, dense, frothy, and delightfully lacey...completely and permanently staining the glass with thick, sticky tan suds. Nose nicely marries soft bourbony vanilla with sweet underlying maltiness, combining in a sophisticated, creamy, adult dessert smell. Flavors are nicely sweet and chocolatly with loads of dessertish bourbon vanilla bringing it to a great higher level. Perfectly balances imperial stout with dessertish sweet bourbon and vanilla...even has a creamy coffee character coming out in the finish. Me likey.

tap at brewpub-6/16/11-hmmm, maybe this is my anti-barrel age beer bias, but i am really getting tired of these beers. They are just not for me anymore. I struggle to even finish a small sample of most barrel aged impy stouts, or even regular impy stouts. pours black with a very small tan head vanilla and bourbon dominate the nose really one dimensional but also on the flavors. thin body especially for the abv-long grainy sweet husky finish of bourbon and chocolate. ok
