Looks fantastic. A bit harsh with the hops but quite excellent. Strong, can taste the alcohol, but still very good. Thick and serious.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar. Black with a small beige head. Delicious chocolate and vanilla aroma. Vanilla flavours, hints of roast, marcipan, some offsetting acidity. Quite well-carbonated. Simply a great beer.

Pours dark borwn/black with a medium sized, offwhite head and spider web lace. Smells dark and hoppy with big, sweet, citrusy hops with a hint of slight chocolatey sweetness from the dark malts. Tastes big and citrusy hoppy, resiny and good. Full bitterness. Some sweet, roasty, sweet maltness too but the hops overpower most of that. Full, semi-syrupy body with good carbonation.

A standout at Boonville, background but defined bright roasts in the chocolate range but they really play backseat to the the malts in the lower crystal range. And all of that gets run over by the onslaught of big burly vibrant green piney and citric high alpha acid hops. The texture is also substantial. This is a creamy, fleshy brew. What a testament! Fantastic.

I love that this Black DIPA is named after a black dude and has a big fat picture of him on the brewpub label at Carlsbad. Pours a deep almost black with some amber notes and a medium creamy:bubbly off white head. Aroma of toasted malt, nice floral and citrusy American hop notes, herbal. Flavor of a nice dry double IPA. Citrusy and floral hops, lightly toasted malts, herbal hops, citrusy and floral.

Tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Deep brown pour with a tight tan head. The nose is really bright and hoppy. Very bright, hoppy nose. Lots of hoppy dankness and herbal character over a touch of light cocoa. Brash and chewy with just a kiss of pine on the back of the palate. I get more of the dark malt on the nose than on the palate which is all hops all the way. Intense bitterness on the finish, especially as it warms up. This is another fine brew.

Tap @ Ørsted Ølbar, Cph.
Pours dark blackish-red with a small, creamy, beige film head. Aroma is wonderful. Lots of Chinook-like notes, grapefruity, piney, light citric and peachy. Fair grainy chocolate notes behind it with a light liqourice hint. Lowish carbonation, super creamy and dry mouthfeel. Flavour is dry, lots of liqourice, mild vinious, dark chocolate. Piney, citric, fruity hops with firm bitterness. Very delicious!

Growler… This beer rocks!… Pours dark and sits black in my glass with a small, creamy, off-white head. The bouquet is a mysterious whirl of floral hops, ginger, pink bubblegum and sassafras root blended with more subtle notes of mandarin orange and damp leather. Full-bodied and ultra creamy with soft carbonation. The flavor is malty and bittersweet – pouch tobacco, scorched malt and grassy hop bitterness. Bittersweet, burnt finish with a lingering pinch of brown sugar. Growler of world class California beer shipped back to the southeastern USA by plovmand!

Served on tap at Pizza Port OB. Pours a rich deep black with a small off white to tan head. The flavors and aromas are sweet with melon like hop tones. Mango, to go with some orange peel. Nice roasted malt edge to the brew. Some nice caramel notes too. A very drinkable and tasty black IPA.

Tap @ Toronado 2nd Anny. Pours a deep brown almost black with a nice creamy beige head. Big pine and deep roasted malts on the nose. Medium sticky on the palate.
