9 mar 2013, tap at pizza port Carlsbad. Dark amber, clear, no bubbles. Nose is serious grapefruit rind hops and red ale malt. Med body and moderately fizzy. Wow. Sooo good. Burnt malt, grapefruit rind, raisins, fruitcake. Wow. The beer I've been looking for all day!

On tap at PP Carlsbad. Pours with a clear bronze hued body with a small off-white head. Aromas are hoppy, boozy, very lightly roasty, caramel, fruit esters, some red berries. Flavors are very, very sweet, estery, a touch rough yeast character, pear drops. Feels sharp. Medium carbonation, sticky and sweet.

Tap at PPC. Listed as a Gangham Style Red. Pours clear, deep red amber. Medium beige foam. Good lace. Nose is apples, acetaldehyde. Taste is spicy, boozy, nutty, hints of amaretto and rum soaked lemon pound cake. Spicy, high alcohol finish.

Pours a dark ruby red, on tap at Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Nose is a complex of malt and citrus, and quite leasing.Fruity notes predominate. Taste is strong citrus and bitter sweet. Mild carbonation, and moderate texture. Finished is bitter and ends on the same flavorful citrus notes. Quaff Score 8 /

Draft at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with thick off-white head an lacing. Nose of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate malt, nut. Roasty taste with a burning warming finish.

Shaker pint at PP OB. Clear auburn with a one finger creamy beige head, fades to a creamy thick film. Big tropical fruit nose atop some rich sweet caramel, light scorched toffee. Flavor follows suit, plenty of the sweet malts to balance the fruity hops. Semi-dry with bitterness peaking at a 6, some alcohol noted. Low prickly carbonation with a full body. I’m not a big fan of the imperial reds due to the malt character, but this is solid.

Dark amber pour with a dense off-white head. Nose of caramel and toffee malts, a nice creaminess, too. Some floral hops, perfume, pine, and chocolate. Fairly sweet overall. The flavor is very sweet and heavy on the chocolate. Plenty of toffee, some molasses, and a fair amount of caramel. Moderate floral notes, some light pine bitterness, and a slightly herbal character.

Draft at PP Carlsbad. Clear dark red pour, off white head. Big bitter hops, sweetness, caramel malt, toffee, and citrus. Quite bitter, with lots of malt body, pretty typical for an ASA. Ok.
