joet (1671), Fulton, California, USA Aug 21, 2001 Carmel nose, a slightly sweet flavor and sticky finish, with some meal flavors.
Pawola22 (509), Kansas City, Missouri, USA May 23, 2009 On tap at the brewpub in San Clemente. Pours a clear, copper-orange body with a thin, cream-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves lots of thick, layered lacing. Sweet and malty aroma with lots of caramels. A light amount of toasted toffees, fruit, nut, and earthy citrus. Similar flavor, more noticeable earthy bitterness and more bready than the aroma. Medium bodied and finishes slightly dry with a soft hop linger. Overall, a solid, well balanced amber ale with more spice than most. nickd717 (788), Palo Alto, California, USA May 6, 2009 Tap at Boonville Beer Fest. Reddish-amber color with a white head. Aroma of sweet malt, fruity notes, and mild hops. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, spicy/fruity notes, and some hops. Medium palate. Hemp? Uh...if you say so. Taverner (728), San Ramon, California, USA Apr 10, 2009 Dry hopped cask version at PP Carlsbad. Amber with a cloudy body. Nose is hoppy, with grassy flavors. Bready with light bitter notes. ajm (782), Los Angeles, California, USA Mar 15, 2009 Cask at San Clemente. Clear red-brown color, aroma of wheat, nut, sugar. Flavors of mild hops, more sweet nuttiness and cream. Finish is a mild graininess and rather abrupt. BeerFanDan17 (538), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Jan 26, 2009 On draft at Pizza Port Sam Clemente. A nice ale with a somewhat sweet character. Nice and smooth overall. DuffMan (2548), currently living in NZ, but from, Alberta, Canada Jan 25, 2009 On tap @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Clear orange-amber, fruity caramel aroma and flavour. Nothing special, but well-made and very sessionable medium-hoppy amber. DSG (1330), Tel Aviv, Israel Jan 18, 2009 (11/3/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Carlsbad. Slightly hazy amber color. Aroma is pretty weak with some malt and caramel notes. Sweetish malty flavor with some toast and caramel and a dry finish. Medium-bodied. JoeMcPhee (4544), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Dec 30, 2008 Tap. Amber coloured brew with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly fruity and a bit sweet and nutty. Flavour has a kiss of buttery diacetyl that I can’t really say I care for. Chewy with a light sweet nuttiness and a chewy earthiness as well. Light toastiness with some soft maltiness and a lingering grassy flavour.
