4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 16, 2007 On tap at Port Carlsbad. Another not required component of a big lineup of 39 taps, though not needed, its a beer for those with a palate. Moderate lace, and as expected a well-retained head. Not too creamy, since cream ales have nothing to do with "creaminess", and a lovely engaging, yet light mouthfeel. Quite different than the amigo lager, with more pale malt and lightly citric hops, as opposed to more traditional lager/european hops. Softer yeast presence with just a hint of fruitiness, as opposed to a lager yeast.
Really nicely attenuated, very flavorful and lacking of any flaws.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
On tap at Port Carlsblad. Another required component of a big lineup of 39 taps, though not needed, its a transition beer. Bit of lace, expected a good head but not so. Not too creamy although mouthfeel was fine, and in fact was not too different than their Mexican lager.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught at Pizza Port Carlsbad
Light pale golden color with thin head and light lacing. The nose is light with some citrusy hops and a touch of pale malt. A lightly sweet flavor with a bit of doughy creamy malt finish. Decent cream ale without any real negative deterants.

At last, a cream ale that tastes creamy! This is no Genny Cream Ale, but a nice tasting, creamy beer that would go down great at a bbq.
