Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 25, 2008 Lagered...nice. Very dark brown. Rich chewy black malt nose. Light nutty coffeeish accents. Very thick, rich body. Slightly sticky. Chewy dense chocolate fudge torte. Light accent of burned plum. JorisPPattyn (4282), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 22, 2008 Draught Small, dark yellowish head over black beer. Creamy, lactic nose, superimposed on the classical roasted notes. Nice, if quite burnt taste, expressly roasted. No creaminess in the flavourperception, but it is again present in the MF. Medium to well-bodied, very slick. Good Baltic porter, made with bottom-fermenting yeast. heemer77 (3667), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jun 25, 2008 Thanks for sharing this one, iowaherkeye. The body was blakc with an orangeish tan head. The aroma was pancakes and plain brown syrup. I also got some milk chocolate. The taste was more of the milk chocolate with some walnuts. There was also coffee. A nice medium body kept this easy to drink. Solid. Ughsmash (3004), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 28, 2008 Thanks to Joey for the handbottle! Poured clear burnt umber with a short cap of medium brown head. The aroma made me smile.. semi-sweet chocolates meet charred molasses, toasted wood, and sweeter vanilla.. light, dry herbal notes accent. The flavor had sticky, toasted darker chocolates and a bit of molasses at the core, mostly surrounded by burnt black patent malts (too much for my liking).. bitterness was low and herbal in nature.. some lactic notes hit toward the finish. Medium-plus bodied with a bit too much sweetness on the palate.. also a bit too burnt on the finish. Overall some mighty fine stuff. General_Gao (2509), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Apr 25, 2008 Hand bottle from iowaherkeye. Thanks Joey. Sampled side-by-side with Pizza Port Night Rider. Poured an opaque black color. Head was thin and light brown. The aroma was subdued overall with hints of cola, dark fruits, soy sauce, and pencil lead. Slightly sweet, slightly acidic, and bitter at the end. Tasted of chocolate, light molasses, and a bit of sour milk. I liked the Night Rider better.
