On tap. Clear orangey brown with an off-white head. A little caramel in the nose. Medium body with very sweet malts and burned caramel. Has a light fustiness. No bitterness though. 080709

Draft at Solana Beach. A brown beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of caramel and medium notes of malt, as well as light notes of butterscotch. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel, medium notes of malt, and light notes of butterscotch, leading to a dry, bitter, and hoppy finish.

Deep amber hue with big tan head. Caramel malts dominate with a touch of peat, light esters, and slight alcohol. Flavor is caramel and peaty malts, finishes prickly and drying. Thick and rich Scottish ale, great example of the style, easy-drinking!

This was a bit of a dissapointment for me. On tap at Solana Beach. Color was reddish brown with an off white head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, yeast and flowers. Flavor was where the surprise came in, as it just was not great and almost seemed like it was off or something. More yeast like notes instead of nutty maltiness. Maybe I’ll try it again.

Draft @ PP Carlsbad under the heading Wee Heavy Scottish, but close enough. Nice, substantial, malty, and nutty. Very nice.

Loads of rich malt flavor. A very sweet beer. Faint subtle hoppiness, not much else. Brown sugar and toffee, sweet roasted notes in the nose. Interesting, just not my cup of tea.

Draft... RBSG... This beer rocks!... Beautiful, clear, dark copper ale with a small, creamy, white head. Big caramel and light milk chocolate in the aroma. Full-bodied and fatty with lazy carbonation. A slight nod toward the sweet side of balance. Loads of caramel malt kept in check by earthy, herbal hops. Lengthy, crisp, mildly acrid finish. World class Scottish ale!
