Cask at Solana Beach (dang I miss San Diego). Brown in colour with absolutely no head. A bit malty and sweet. Notes of fruits, caramel and maybe a weak hint of oak.

Draft... RBSG... This beer rocks!... Beautiful, clear, dark copper ale with a small, creamy, white head. Big caramel and light milk chocolate in the aroma. Full-bodied and fatty with lazy carbonation. A slight nod toward the sweet side of balance. Loads of caramel malt kept in check by earthy, herbal hops. Lengthy, crisp, mildly acrid finish. World class Scottish ale!

On the cask at Solana Beach, 8/2/06. Pours a murky brown with no head. Aroma is heavy with caramel malt and toffee. Viscous mouthfeel, but still light. Tons of flavors ranging through caramel, almonds, and toffee with some woody bitterness at the back. Simply a great beer.

On Cask at Solana Beach. Brown with barely even a bubble floating atop. Very malty aromas, Caramel, toffee. Some oaky flavor in there along with the same malts in the aroma. Hops were subtle, but present in the final moments of the aftertaste. Very smooth out of the cask. Pretty tasty

From tap at Solana Beach. Pours clear and cobber brown wit a lacing white head. Spiced and light breadish malt aroma. Flavour is liqourice and roasted malt. Nice and flavourful. Lingering spiced and liqourice hops finish.

Deep amber hue with big tan head. Caramel malts dominate with a touch of peat, light esters, and slight alcohol. Flavor is caramel and peaty malts, finishes prickly and drying. Thick and rich Scottish ale, great example of the style, easy-drinking!

20/09/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap).
