Probiere (992), Iowa, USA Jan 29, 2006 A slightly sour, fruity, light-bodied ale. Cherry accented with pleasant sourness throughout. Muted acidity melds with a dought yeastiness and plenty of dark fruit, figs, dates, molasses, and soft buttermilk biscuits. Ends with soft brett funk. Damn nice. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA Jan 24, 2006 Poured reddish brown with practically no head. Aromas of chocolate, cherry, caramel, brown sugar and port. Taste had noticable alcohol with the chocolate and cherry coming in quite a bit. Powerful aftertaste with various chocolate flavors plus cherry. Perfect dessert beer. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada Jan 23, 2006 Mahogony/red with a little dark sediment in suspension, hazy with a medium sized creamy light tan head. Fairly hazy. Nose of sour cherries (front and finish), brown sugar, ripe figs and malt vinegar. Toasted and bitter, bread crusts and pumpernickle and cherry pits. Woody and a braised/roasted vegetable, vidalia onions. Peppery and tart. Hot with alcohol. Very interesting. Thanks mr kimchee! Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Dec 25, 2005 Sampled at the Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beer at Goose Island, Nov.11, 2005. Deep reddish brown ale with a thin moka head. Rich horseblanket aroma, with ground cherries, and lactic notes. Rich sour brown with light vinegar, cherries, sour puckering quality, and vinous notes. Very classy. Rich and restrained. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 18, 2005 Updated: Oct 9, 2006(Bottle 75 cl) Beautiful, clear red beer - no head whatsoever. Completely flat. Sour, but fresh berry aroma. Extremely sour, but still fresh. Reminds me a lot of a Flemish Sour. Loads of fruit and extremely vinous. No real bitterness. Nice, but I dont believe I can drink a lot of this. 031205 and 061006 MiP (8793), Sřnderborg, Denmark Dec 15, 2005 Bottle. Cloudy brown colour, absolutely no head. Acidic and metallic flavour. Strange beer. Bad beer. JensenTaster (1585), Denmark Dec 13, 2005 (on bottle at CPH Yeha05) Really nice dark, yet clear amber colur, no head. delicate aromas; kandis, wooden barrel and kernalfruits. Slightly acidic, mildly moldy, not a big flavour, but a super finish of cherrystones. gets heavy and cloying in finish. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Dec 11, 2005 Bottle courtesy of richlikebeer at his YeHa 05 tasting. The bottle had a black label with a golden C on it. Other than that, I am not sure on the vintage. Complex aroma with some sour fruity cherry-like notes. There are also some sweet and sugary malts in the nose as well with hints of toffee. Mildly hazy amber color with a light tan head. Sour, sweet, astringent cherry-like flavors to start. Turns spicy with peppery notes. Roasty chocolate then follows this with a long dry finish followed by an encore performance of the sour flavors. Complex beer with lots going on. Pleasureable.
