Oaky, sour nose, some raisin. Taste is citrus, oak, red wine & red wine vinegar. Very nice flavor, not too sour. Very nice and easy to drink for a sour beer. chicagodri (1081), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jun 8, 2008 Very good beer, but I had such high hopes for this one. Opened this right after taking the CFA as part of my reward. Pours brown, with a thin head. Nice aroma, I was actually thinking it would be a lot more sour. Hides the ABV very well. I really liked it more as the blend in the Veritas 003. Very good though. Frank (1076), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 2, 2005 Brown porter appearance--no head. Very spice, lightly sour and vnous. Oaky, complex, deep and sophisticated. There’s so much going on here, I can’t be bothered to describe it. You will just have to seek one out and see for yourself. elihapa (1072), Honolulu, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 6, 2009 750ml bomber, shared with two friends. Pours dark magenta with almost no head. Aroma is a complex blend of sour cherry, oak, cider vinegar, and fruit peel. Palate is buttery, “oily,” and lightly carbonated, with a mouth-coating finish. Primary flavor was bitter-sour, not sure which was more prominent. Entry features tangy cherry, vinegar, lemon, and oak. Mid-palate adds more bitter citrus peel in the mix, perhaps even some brett. Whatever the components, the heft of this brew is certainly complex. Cuvee finishes with acidity alongside smoke, dark cherry, and bitterness . . . a blend I found a bit on the sharp side. Nonetheless, this is a wonderfully special offering, worthy of a deluxe occasion with fellow craft beer lovers. rustychiles (1071), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Taste of hops and cherries with a slight hint of oak/wood. No hot edge for a beer with such a high alcohol content. papajohn (1055), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 4, 2009 375ml ’08 bottle. Mostly clear burgundy with a little, wispy head. Aroma of black cherries, balsamic vinegar, oak, brett and faint vanilla and licorice. Hugely vinous taste; smacks of tart cherries and aging wood. Alcohol is non-existent except for the warming feeling. Very dry throughout. The dark fruit taste seems to come out as it warms. Very complex. This is truly an amazing beer, and many thanks to (the) Tomme for the Sinner’s club.
