Pint glass on tap at the brewery. A dark chestnut brown pour with a small beige head. There was not much aroma to speak of, just some light roasted malts. The flavor was bigger and bolder than the aroma, there was some anise, molasses, biter walnuts and lots of burnt malts. The mouthfeel was uneven and a bit gritty. The finish was long and dry with a bit of astringency. Overall: An interesting dark draft beer, but not as refined as the moonlit lager.

Growler from Jon and served in rarely used Pizza Port pint glass. Thanks Bud!

Deep carmel brown hue with a forever lasting creamy off-white head which left very good lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of walnut, caramel, melted butter (diacetyl), a hint of mocha, plum and dragon fruit, grainy and earthy esters as well.

The taste starts lightly sweet and grainy with a dark fruit bit of tone. Nutty, woody and peppery towards the finish. The mouth feel is smooth and relaxing, chalky aftertaste that wore on me after awhile. While hardly a world beater, a single purpose session beer.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a dark brown color with a thin, compact and creamy light beige head that diminishes steadily. Sheet of lacing. Aroma of malt, grain and dark fruit. Medium, smooth body with sweet malt, caramel and mild hops flavors. The finish is roasted malt with a touch of chocolate and lingering hops. Overall a decent session beer.

I had this one on tap at PPSB a while back and I am rating this one to get the style. Nice flavors of malts, and some sweetness.

On-tap @ PPSB. Pours dark brown with red highlights. Small head of large bubbles. Smells of caramelly malts and overripe red fruit, plums. Tastes of sweet malts and caramel, some dark red fruitiness too. Meium body with medium carbonation. Can taste the relation to RP.
