On tap at pizza port cbad during strong ale fest. Herbal & earthy aroma, flavor follows suit. Notes of grapefruit, tangerine, and grass. Very herbal overall, but pretty balanced. Dry hopping almost gave it a vegetable character but it stays fairly even throughout. Pretty good.

"I donít know if the name refers to this beer trying to be an imperial, cause it does a good job of it without the heaviness. HUGE pine and orange peel aroma and solid juicy hop profile and flavor. Minimal malts just to balance. Nice west coast ipa."

This looks fine. Not overly-hopped in the aroma but the flavor is quite aggressive. An extremely dry beer, especially in the finish, yet it has a bit of the Lagunitas-like sweetness to it as well. Great.

On tap at PP Carlsbad. Golden tangerine pour with a dense ivory head that left significant lacing. Dank, damp leafy qualities along with grapefruit pith, lemon zest and orange peel. Bitter, unripened citrus and evergreen. Amazing!

Tap @ PP Carlsbad. Clear golden caramel colored pour with a white head. Aroma is light floral hops and pine with minimal bitterness and a soft bready malt backbone. Taste is light resinous pine with complimentary bitterness followed by biscuit and soft, sweet malt. Airy, coating mouthfeel. Good IPA with minimal bitterness and bready malt.

Tap at PPC. Pours a clear light amber. Webby off-white lace. Nose is sticky, melons, cantaloupe, jackfruit. Taste is nutty, bitter, very dry with small paper. Very hoppy, aromatic, lots of southern hemisphere hops.

Draft at the brewpub. Poured a cloudy gold with thick off white head and solid lacing. Aroma of fresh cut grass, pine, and some citrus. Taste was dominated by juicy hops - grass and pine mostly with a little citrus. Fairly bitter.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. The sign on the board had what appeared to be Han Solo in lederhosen and holding a stein. Orange color, good head, sticky lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell was nice and hoppy, pretty much west coast style, citrus and pine. Flavor was very bitter, dank hops. This was a nice west coast style IPA and one I would order again on sight. Alas, I wonít be back to Pizza Port for awhile so I probably wonít get that chance soon. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 09-19-2012 01:28:43
