6th annual Bistro IIPA fest. Fruity, hop aroma; something is off. Hazy amber body with a slightly off-white ring. Hempish initial mouthfeel. Decent balance. Not my favorite IIPA.

Draft at PP Strong Ale Fest ’05. Hazy coppery pour with some small head. Large grapefruity piney hop aroma. Semi sweet caramel malty flavors with loads of grapefruity hops. Fairly bitter bite that lingered. Dry finish.

Draft at brewery: Light copper color with smallish off white head. Aroma is hoppy (amarillo?) with apricot, apple, and a touch of malt. Flavor has a touch of malt, with peach, apricot, critrusy hops. Finish is dry, with a significant, lasting bitteness.

This is a pretty good double IPA. Not very big. Good friutiness and hop balance.

9th Annual San Diego Strong Ale Fest: Hazy amber color. Big grapefruit hops with some light floral notes. Malt shows up underneath. Acidic hop flavor from the front to the middle. Citrus hop from middle to end. Mild bitterness on the semi-dry finish.

Murky caramelized yellow, crowned by a white film. Vibrant hop nose, both citric and piney procuring tropical fruits and grapefruit^2 both tangy and juicy, yet with growing oiliness. The hops literally grab the nostrils and hide the malts, yet they are pleasant, intensely fruity, what can I say, must be the pizza port touch. Then, in mouth, malts kick in with a fruitiness of their own (apricot) and a bready, almost cakey sweetness that provides the bed for the less aromatic hops that remain fully floral, piney and citrusy. Tasty if quite light bodied for the style, though on the better hand, no alcohol is noticeable ever.

[At GABF 2004] A clear golden beer with a dense white head. The aroam is subtle grassy - a little weak considering the style. The flavor is very grassy and hop oily, leading to a bitter hoppy end. Nice, but not exceptional.

Tap @ Bistro Double IPA Festival. A cloudy orange color with a laced off-white head. Smooth and well balanced with some apricot fruitiness.

On tap at PP San Clemente. Beautiful orange-gold color, aroma is floral with citrus, pine. Very nice malt sweetness, well balanced hops bite, slightly oily mouthfeel. Excellent overall Imperial IPA, would definitely order again.

The aroma had orange zest, pine, citrus, and flowers. The flavor had thin citrus, pine, and slight note of flowers. This beer poured an orange color w/ golden highlights; thin lasting head and thick lacing. The mouthfeel was light and carbonated.
