Ungstrup (11713), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 3, 2005 [At GABF 2004] A clear golden beer with a dense white head. The aroam is subtle grassy - a little weak considering the style. The flavor is very grassy and hop oily, leading to a bitter hoppy end. Nice, but not exceptional. yespr (7788), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 From tap at San Clemente. Pours slight cloudy and golen orange with a lacing white head. Aroma is nicely fruity hoppy. Fruity and nicely bitter flavour. Holds a nice caramel malt to give good balance all the way through. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 12/02/2005
Rastacouere (5418), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 10, 2005 Murky caramelized yellow, crowned by a white film. Vibrant hop nose, both citric and piney procuring tropical fruits and grapefruit^2 both tangy and juicy, yet with growing oiliness. The hops literally grab the nostrils and hide the malts, yet they are pleasant, intensely fruity, what can I say, must be the pizza port touch. Then, in mouth, malts kick in with a fruitiness of their own (apricot) and a bready, almost cakey sweetness that provides the bed for the less aromatic hops that remain fully floral, piney and citrusy. Tasty if quite light bodied for the style, though on the better hand, no alcohol is noticeable ever. CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA Oct 11, 2004 GABF 2004: Pours a clear bright golden with a lacy white head. Smells like a fresh hop field glazed with caramel sauce. Very rich, smooth, malty and hoppily bitter with incredible balance. Finishes crisp, somewhat sticky, and freshly florally hopped with no traces of alcohol. This was definitely the best DIPA I had at the festival, and I’m glad the judges agreed with me.
