On tap at Toronado SD. Clear reddish auburn with a small off-white head, fading to a ring rather quickly. Smells like New Belgium’s Abbey with a tinge more toasted malt and light chocolate, slightly more banana. Flavor is much the same with a moderate alcohol presence and bitterness at a 3, dry.moderate prickly carbonation with a medium full body. Just a Tad better than NB. Stupid autocorrect. . .

Bottle, courtesy matta. Pours a dark copper hue, thin white head, and sticky lacing. Caramel nose, raisin, some wet wheat. Flavors of caramel, raisin, some chocolate in the distance, some sour tart punch in the finish. Spicy, full body. Has a lot of age on it. Would have been better fresh.

Bottled at RBSG thanks to Christian! Poured deep medium caramel with a swirly cap of beige head. The aroma picked up toasted lighter fruits, showing plenty of oxidation.. darker fruit and caramel came on the second wind.. quite sweet overall. The flavor was sweet again with caramel and medium-skinned fruits paired with spicy lighter fruit skins and some raw alcohol.. finished dry and spicy with some tart and yeasty notes. Medium-bodied and a bit more sour than I’d like.. interesting evolution.

Bottle @ RBSG guessing from AlohaC Christian or some one else old school. Pours orange with a bright white ring. Nose is fresh and sweet. Taste is sweet and fruitty and very nice. This is a cool brew.

Orange-dark amber in colour, off white coloured head, average retention, good lacing. The aroma starts off quite sweet, lots of fruit (apples and some peach), lots of yeast, bready, really fresh. The flavour is yeasty upfront, lots of apple tartness, good fruit sweetness, very light spice, a rather unusual sourness although this is a good thing. Tart mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long and tart, lots more fruit, dry. This is good, a different take on a double. I’m liking the angle that they take with this one.

750ml bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>DarkElf, thanks Stephen.
Opened on February 16, 2007.
Bottle #155, Vintage 2004.

Bottle. Warm, coppery brown with an off-white head. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Aroma of fruit, funk and honey. Biscuit, spice and fruit flavor. Dry, nutty finish.

Bottle. #155. Pours a bright brown-ruby body with a creamy, medium-size white head. The aroma has a solid fruit constituency (apricot, peach) along with bready yeast. Fruity, funky acidity in an oily body. Interesting profile, as others mentioned this doesn’t appear to be a double, but I still found it to be quite enjoyable.
Thanks for sharing, radiomgb.

Doesn’t really seem like a double if that was the intent. Tart, doughy, orange citrus aroma. Hazy browned copper coloured body is topped by a decent but diminishing off white head that does leave some sudsy lacing. Tart orange and strong grapefruit citrus hops overwhelm the malt body. Chaotic fruitiness leaves the flavour unfocussed. Somewhat watery texture with gassy strong carbonation. Bottle (trade, May-05) sampled with MartinT and Rastacouere. Thanks, DarkElf!

From the bottle. Very fruity spicy cherry with sweet malts and nice spice. The alcohol shows a bit in this beer, but the malts are fantastic, very fruity and great caramel flavor. Beer was a bit light on the palate and lacked carbonation.
