3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Silphium (2976) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JAN 9, 2006
Thanks to bu11zeye for this hand-marked 750 mL bottle, #48. Hazy amber-orange body, thin creamy beige head. Strong canned pineapple aroma- this must be a house characteristic as I distinctly remember the same aroma in their SPF 45. Tart, sour, and funky, with butterscotch candies and spice. Tart body, with the same notes of pineapple juice, butterscotch, spice (ester-heavy), more sour than sweet, with a spicy finish. Crisp, medium-bodied. Unique interpretation, with a strong pineappley character that is probably a turn-off or turn-on depending on the taster.

Bottle. Hazy orange color with a white head. Light yeasty body with a slight sour note. Rather thin finish.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 thedm (4783) - Fort Wayne, USA - DEC 26, 2005
This bottled brew from John/HopsRUs/JCW marked number 359 poured a medium sized head of finely sized mostly diminishing off-white colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body contained unnoted carbonation, was hazy and dark yellow brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of mild malt brown malt . Its mouth feel is initially tingly vinous with a lingering very tingly vinous palate and a aftertaste. Its flavor contained sour malty hoppy notes. This one did not agree with me.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 badgerben (4255) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - DEC 16, 2005
Dark red color with no head. Very hoppy aroma and a little remnant of syrup. Dull cherry taste with moderate malt to form the base. Dry finish.

Bottle at RBESG grand tasting, August 2005. Cloudy amber colour. Without being too extreme or brash, this is a really nice, clean fresh beer. Lots of sharp apple in the aroma and flavour. Zesty orange as well. There are some light sour notes but its quite subtle. I could drink more of this.

750 hand marked as bottle #329 - Crimson orange color, clear up to the point of the yeast pour where it turned opaquely dull orange mud. Capping was medium sized to start, fades down to a broken thinning skim and good collaring. Lacing is stringy/blotchy and sporatic.
Aroma starts out slightly vinous with a lightly soured tone with apples and tart cherries. Warms to add potent alcoholic esters and yeasty spices that radiate with strength until very late where it then revels in the yeatsy tartness.
Taste is lightly tart and mildly sharp with flavors of cherries, apples, lime, and lemon. Turns a bit darker in the fruityness as it middles and finishes with a slight molasses and dark candied sugar. Some light dancing spices add some cinnamon late mixing with some of the cherry tartness and fresh apple skins.
Feel is semi tangy and tart with a spiced grab of sharp fruit juices. Smooth mostly, even with the tartness in hand, and is seemingly drawn into a mediumish body all while keeping its evidently mild Belgian-like, spritely, lively, tangy carbonation.
Goes down very easy and is perfectly tart and tanged for my buds. Could use a bit more complexity and depth but is still quite a treat. Not quite true to the dubble style, but leave it to Pizza Port to push it out of its realm.

A well-balanced dubbel. Pour is light brown with a tan head. Aroma is yeast and dried fruits. Taste is very nice. Smooth, malts and yeast, with some bubblegum-like sweetness. Very enjoyable brew.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Jeppe (2631) - Ølbutikken, DENMARK - SEP 27, 2005
Sampled at RBESG 2005. Fine off-white head, unclear amber golden body. Typical belgian ale aroma of malt, yeast and little fruit and toffee, quite ordinary. Yeasty, malty and very fruity flavor with some orange and citrus in there. Quite sharp and a bit unbalanced and quite dissapointing from this great brewery!
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 22, 2005
Lightly hazy copper body with a uniform, fading head. Mild aroma with light esters, some apple, and pale malt characters. Considerable fruity tartness and very dry with delicate flavors. Seems overattenuated and a bit too sour, but not unpleasant.
Thanks DarkElf.
