jonwell (104), Huntington Beach, California, USA Dec 10, 2004 I’d had a few by the time this one came around, but it was pretty good! Pretty tangy, relatively neutral and inoffensive belgian yeast profile, but plenty of good dubbel-ness
gunhaver (660), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 10, 2008 Bottle, courtesy matta. Pours a dark copper hue, thin white head, and sticky lacing. Caramel nose, raisin, some wet wheat. Flavors of caramel, raisin, some chocolate in the distance, some sour tart punch in the finish. Spicy, full body. Has a lot of age on it. Would have been better fresh. Ughsmash (3148), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bottled at RBSG thanks to Christian! Poured deep medium caramel with a swirly cap of beige head. The aroma picked up toasted lighter fruits, showing plenty of oxidation.. darker fruit and caramel came on the second wind.. quite sweet overall. The flavor was sweet again with caramel and medium-skinned fruits paired with spicy lighter fruit skins and some raw alcohol.. finished dry and spicy with some tart and yeasty notes. Medium-bodied and a bit more sour than I’d like.. interesting evolution. WeeHeavySD (2034), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Aug 3, 2008 Bottle @ RBSG guessing from AlohaC Christian or some one else old school. Pours orange with a bright white ring. Nose is fresh and sweet. Taste is sweet and fruitty and very nice. This is a cool brew. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 05/04/2005
radiomgb (1781), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jun 27, 2007 Orange-dark amber in colour, off white coloured head, average retention, good lacing. The aroma starts off quite sweet, lots of fruit (apples and some peach), lots of yeast, bready, really fresh. The flavour is yeasty upfront, lots of apple tartness, good fruit sweetness, very light spice, a rather unusual sourness although this is a good thing. Tart mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long and tart, lots more fruit, dry. This is good, a different take on a double. I’m liking the angle that they take with this one.
