Keg at Cask Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico, London. An amber coloured pour with a small white head on top. Sweet, fruity aroma. Tastes of raisins and other dark fruits, spice and childrens fruit sweets (tootie fruity) that I used to eat back in the 70’s! Rather strange to be honest. Vaguely Belgian in character but a bit unbalanced. Not really for me, give me more coffee monster.

Draft @ Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a sweetish malty fruity caramel and dark fruit aroma. Sweetish malty caramel and dark fruit flavor with weak yeasty hints. Has a sweetish malty yeasty caramel and dark fruit finish.

Tap @ Mikkeller Bar, Cph. Pours clear deep red with a small, staying, creamy, beige film head. Aroma has raisins, red apples, vinious, plums, esters. Medium carbonation, fine oily and light dry mouthfeel. Flavour is mild, but elegant. Raisins, plums, apple, light warming, a bit of chocolate and a hint of cherries and red wine. A really well constructed dubbel.

Draft. A dark red beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of candy sugar, malt, fruit, and a bit of yeast, leading to a dry yeasty finish.

22/11/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Bevuta al Thanksgiving Day, Bruna, molto bella, gran cappello di schiuma molto persistente. Al naso sentori etti di esteri (banana), che quasi coprono tutto il resto. Note di malto, tostato e cioccolato, ciliegie e alcol. In bocca è dolce ma non troppo, migliore rispetto alle attese ma non eccezionale. Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Discreta.

Clear brown with low tan head.
Aroma is caramel, yeast and dark fruits.
Taste is sweet malts, berries, caramel, chocolate, and a liqour-like cherry tartness. Surprised by the tartness - a fault?
Quite tasty though.

Tap @ Mikkeller. Dark brown pour with a nice chestnut tone with a egg shell white head. Aroma is heavy on the raisins and yeast esters. Has a nice blackcurrant note to the esters. Some caramel maltiness, too, but over all pretty estery, as a dubbel should be. Taste is more light than the aroma suggests - there is a light tartness to it that hides very well behind the raisinous and estery sweetness. This is quite above any other dubbel I’ve had. Very nice! I could imagine that a sour cherry and brettanomyces version of this aged in an oak barrel would be through the roof.

fra fat på Mikkeller Ølbar: min første øl fra Pizza Port. Et hederlig forsøk på en belgisk dubbel, men ikke helt overbevist. De har ikke spart på rosinpakka. God, men belgierne gjør dette best.
