May 2, 2009 On tap at Stone. Cola brown with a thick tan head. Fades to solid lace. Nose is serious roasted malt. Strong. Brown sugar there too. Malt taste is high in the mouth. Not as strong as the nose. Bit of tartness hiding in there. The ring absolutely destroyed the glass.

Jan 18, 2009 (11/3/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Carlsbad. Dark brown color. Aroma of malt, nutty and toasty notes and a bit of fruits. Sweet mallty flavor. Medium-bodied.

Nov 28, 2008 Tap at the Local. Deep dark brown beer. Aroma is lightly toasty with a soft lightly herbal/chocolate brown malt base. Herbal and toasty aroma with a nice soft hoppiness. Fairly drinkable, but as always, the brown ale just isn’t my thing.

Oct 21, 2008 tap at The Local. Pours a clear, deep brown color, not much head to speak of. Big time toasted malts on the nose as well as the flavor. Really big and full bodied for your standard brown ale.

Oct 20, 2008 On tap at PP Carlsbad. Color was a red tinted brown with not much head. Aroma of nuts and cocoa; some caramel. Flavor of coffee, nuts and cocoa. Alot of coffee for the style. Good for the style.

May 13, 2008 Golden-brown. Slightly toasty with a chewy toffee nose. Slight chewiness in the palate, too, with hints of molasses and vague nuts.
