COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Bomber. Pours a dusky russet-amber. Aroma is all citrusy, tangy hops, but not as strong as I had imagined it might be. Smoothe initial flavor of malt and hops followed by pine and sweetness. Very smoothe finish. Just a really good IIPA. Not surprising, considering the source.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2009 Bottle at the “Drink for Charity” event at Rattle & Hum. Pours a hazy apricot gold with a medium white head. Pine, pineapple, vanilla, and sweety honeyed malt on the nose. Medium bodied and malty and just a balancing touch sweet. Ends with a very good grapefruit and quinine bitterness. Another one of the better ones for the day. Darn tasty. 848317

Rerated without remembering that I’d had it before: Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with small white floaties and a medium sized toffee hued beige. Large pine, citrus, mango and pineapple, grapefruit aromas. Medium bodied, caramel, slightly oxidized malt, earthy hop bitterness. Slow quinine bitter finish. Very well done. 848417

This was a big beer. Color was very deep amber, it’s mouthfeel was very thick. I enjoyed it but not as much as I thought I would. Good beer but not great.

Pours a nice slightly amber orange with thin white head. Aroma slightly floral hops, large citrus, slight malt, and pine. Flavor surprisingly very difficult to detect specific hops, but a nice blend is evident. Hints of caramel, grass, and sweetness detected. Very nice IIPA, but it almost seems like they are trying too hard.

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are rich with both flowers, cascade hops and very well balanced with some caramel, sugar and citrus.

15 different hops added 15 times, really adds to the complexity of this brew. nice floral nose. enjoyed this a lot on tap and bottles are almost as good. nice price makes this attractive.

22oz bottle. Pours cloudy amber in color with off white head. Aroma sweet, citrus hops and grapefruit. Taste bitter and citrus hops with bitter grapefruit finish.

Light amber pour with off-white head. aroma is of hops, hops, and malt. Nice hop and malt balance during the drink. You taste the malt during the initial first taste, and a hoppy spicy finish at the end. It leaves a dry taste with more notes of spicy hop goodness. This could be a very dangerous beer- refreshing and tasty, easy to drink, 10% ABV and not noticeable. I gladly welcome this beer to the Illinois Valley. leaves a great lacing.
