3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 thegreenrooster (2438) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - APR 11, 2009
Pour is a cloudy orange with no head at all. Aroma is some melon with some clean pine. Flavor starts out sweet then follows with some grapefruit and honey. An abundance of hoppyness is left on the tounge as this goes down. Alcohol is no where to be found which makes it all the more drinkable. A sweet but well made beer.

Bomber, split with NachlamSie. Pours a nice orange with off-white head. The aroma is freshly-cut grapefruit, pine, and a little bit of spicy malt. The piney hops are straightfoward in the flavor, with juicy, fruity hops after that. That malts are toasty and makes the beer pleasantly dry. I like my DIPAs a bit out of balance as this one is, so I am pleased.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2007 Rerate22oz bottle, no date. Clear orange with slight reddish highlights and a fading light yellowish head, fairly creamy. Aroma of pine, perfumey floral hops, scorched caramel and light toast. I get a touch of alcohol as well. Flavor does add a bit of spicy and woody hop character, though I never did pick up on much of the citrus that the label states, nor from my previous rating. Strange. I think I originally thought this was an IPA (@ Naja’s). Oh wait, there it is. Some ripe oranges or tangerines, however faint, is definitely there towards the end of the swallow and the finish. Bitterness is around a 6-7 out of 10--mainly at the back corners of my tongue it’s fairly intense. Can’t really tell that it’s 10.5%, but I’d figure 8%. Medium body with light to moderate carbonation. Very nice IIPA. Old rating follows. Had this @ Naja’s after I drank Pliny the Younger, so this seemed to pale in comparison. I actually thought it was a 7% IPA at best. Clear orange golden with a frothy one finger light yellowish head. Aroma of passionfruit Skittles, oranges, pineapple, and some sweet toffee that reminds me of Dales Pale and Lake Louie Kiss the Lips IPA. Flavor was the same, somewhat astringent, and an earthy bitter dry finish. 6-7 on 1-10 scale for bitterness. The taste is a little fruitier than the aroma. Burps spicy oranges. Never would have guessed this at 10.5%. Moderate carbonation and a medium body. 7-4-7-3-14--3.5
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Vac (2420) - Capistrano Beach, California, USA - JAN 18, 2004
The big brew pours with a hazy deep orange amber body topped by a thin, creamy, lasting head with good lacing. The aroma is sweet and tropical with a nice hoppy note and a good maltiness. The flavor is sweet and tropical with a kick of bitter, piney hops and a nice malt balance. Full bodied and smooth with a warmth down deep.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Allen (2402) - SWITZERLAND - FEB 1, 2009
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2009 Appearance: It pours a hazy amber beer with a small white head. Not much lacework. Aroma: Very strong with reminiscence of quinces, blue cheese, hops and caramel. Flavor and palate: Syrupy. Nice bitterness. Beautiful hop profile which is balanced by caramel. Very long finish.

Event: DarkLord Day 2007
Location: Three Floyds Brewing Co. Parking Lot
Serving: Sampled from a growler. Thank you to bgburdman9 for sharing this beer with us!
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Citrusy and grassy hops.
Appearance: Transparent golden orange color.
Flavor: Malty with a nice dose of fresh wet hop flavor. Hop flavors are pine, orange, and citrus.
Palate: Medium-light; sticky.
Overall: Great IIPA. I put this one right up there with Green Flash Imperial IPA. Maybe not quite as juicy as that one, but full of flavor, well-balanced, and a pleasing bitterness just the same!
Rating: 8/4/8/4/17=4.1
. . . . . . . . . .
2/26/2008: Orangy-copper color; cloudy with some sediment. Sweet citrus, prune, and honey/caramel/toffee malt aroma. It just smells sticky and looks thick! There is a massive level of hop flavor as well as some malt and homey. There is a moderate bitterness and the beer finishes dry. The alcohol is well-hidden in this thick and chewy beer. Excellent!
1 pint 6 fl. oz. bottle (Alc. 10.0% by Vol.) from Brock Landers. Thanks John! Rating: 8/3/8/4/16=3.9

Poured a cloudy orange color with a fluffy white head. Aroma of tons of hops and more hops. Flavor is also just plain hops but comp-lex because of all the different types of hops in it. good but not nearly the greatness of Hopslam.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 LinusStick (2386) - Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 25, 2008
Wow what a great IIPA! I don’t know how the west coast does it, but damn is this a great and drinkable beer. Aroma was nice. Strong pine and citrus hops. Don’t get enough of the piney hops here in the northeast. Pour was a nice medium amber with a one finger off white head. Taste was a hop bomb that expertly balances just enough caramel and dark malt to keep it drinkable. The hops varied from citrus to pine needles, but dried the mouth out and left a strong bitterness on the tonsils. Outstanding beer.
