This one poured out a burnt orange with a substantial and lasting off white head that left some sticky lace. Bigtime citrus aroma with some spruce and spice thrown in the mix. Underneath, there’s a hint of caramel if you care to seek it out. Finally, an undertone of alcohol is noticeable as well.
Medium/full body and fairly lightly carbonated, bit of stickiness on the palate, but smooth drinking nonetheless. Lots of malty sweetness up front that persists into the finish, but a spicy, peppery bitterness starts to build and dries out the finish to a large extent. Very nice in all respects.
craftycarl21 (170), South Hero, Vermont, USA Aug 20, 2008 Murky copper with little head. Grapefruit, hops, pine sap, and citrus on the nose. Flavor is smooth with definite malt and sticky resinous qualities. Nice palate. Remarkable brew. Lagunitasfan (25), San Diego, California, USA Aug 19, 2008 On tap for Pre-Stone brunch @ 10:00 AM. Great bright color and fruity aroma. A sweet, full bodied beer that got better as I drank it. Lots of flavor just bursting with eack swig. My type of beer, Jblauvs (149), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Aug 18, 2008 Hazy orange pour with slight head that leaves nice lacing. Grapefruit hop aromas, sweet and resinous. Very well hopped flavor, resinous, earthy. Excellent oteyj (310), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Aug 18, 2008 Pours hazy peach with one finger head that leaves a nice thick lacing. Aroma is flowery, citrusy, sweet and resinous with every hop angle covered- from grapefruit to pine. Flavor is much more mild mannered than expected- very resinous with grassy, fruity, and flowery hop character. Sweet malt character provides excellent balance. Palate is sticky and smooth with a dry finish. One of my favorites of the style. Lt_Dan (20), Greater Los Angeles Area, California, USA Aug 18, 2008 A wonderful treat that helps celebrate the end of a work week. Caramel custard, piney and citrus hops. Possibly my favorite beer, trying this beer could change peoples entire perception on 100 IBU beers.
