COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Bomber. Translucent orange-brown with a small creamy disc of foam that laces the glass all the way down. Great nose of flowery honey, grapefruit and resin mix. Flavor is similar with some nice earthy leaf, orange marmalade, mint and peppery oak notes mixed in. Just a tad too much alcohol for my tastes on the finish, but otherwise outstanding. Medium body is smooth and slightly watery so as to make this one dangerously chuggable.

Pours a clear orange color into the tulip with an inch of white, fluffy head. A ridiculous scent of hops here. Pine needles, grass, earth tones, orange peel, grapefruit with a slight honey scent. A very overwhelming hop experience on the palate. Very complex with new hop flavors becoming apparent on each sip. A slight hint of malt and barley to finish.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2007 Drank from Tap at Carlsbad Pizza Port. Served by the beautiful tatooed Melanie. Little head made lacing hard to see. Wonderful sweet hop aroma. Caramel orange color. Great balance of bitterness and sweetness.

8/27/09 On draft at Hopunion Hop School. Aroma is very sweet caramel blended with lemon. Appearance is nearly clear orange-yellow with a medium white head. Flavor is very unique, smoky, salty, with earthy, but clean citrus and good sweet malt balance. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a medium cabr texture and earthy, grainy finish. Simply put, this has excellent complexity.

On tap at Dekkard’s. Feeling good about my choice of neighborhoods. Started the session with a Hopslam to prepare the Hop-15. Nice one-two if I might compliment my own awesomeness. Hazy orange, off-white head. Big pine citrus nose. More and welcomely bitter and coarse than the Hopslam (Which I love if find just a bit too smooth. Like a just shy of perfect used car saleman. Which I once was.). Reminds actually of the Hopslam, drop in a succulent free range organic peach and 2/3rds more bitter harshness. More like a Tom Waits song than any other beer I’ve tried.

It poured a hazy golden-orange liquid with a small white foam. It had a fresh smell and taste of grassy hops, lemon and other citrus fruit. It was very smooth with a round feeling that just hugged my tongue. Balanced and extremely good, one of the best beers I’ve had.

22oz Bomber.A trade extra from kosko20 thanks John. A hazy amber, orange, color pour with a huge fluffy offwhite head, that faded slowly, leaving some nice lace. Aroma seemed somewhat subdued at first (the big head was hiding it) very nice grapefruit, orange zest, pine, and herbs. Flavor is huge bitter hops YUMMY tastebud bashing pine, citrus and herbal resin bitterness with a little flash of caramel sweetness here and there, a hint of the alcohol at the finish. Full mouthfeel, medium carbonation DUDE this shit is the bomb. Aftertaste = HOPS , burps = HOPS .
