Had it on tap after waiting in line to get my bottles of the Bourbon Angels share. Wow, this is good stuff. Pours a orange amber with a thin white head. Overpowering pine and citrus nose. This is a nice hop bomb, which I love. Didn’t seem like a 10.5% beer. Port/Lost Abbey rock.

Keg, Pizza Port / Port Brewing event at Brickskeller. Pours a clear, reddish orange color; off-white head with large bubbles, good retention, and patchy lacing. Generous, resiny and chewy, citrus and pine hop aroma; lovely hop nose. Full, viscous mouthfeel: relaxed carbonation, with resiny and dense piney and citrus hop chewiness; somehow, all the hop flavor is there, but the bitterness is kept at an engaging, chewy point; some pleasant maple syrup maltiness in there as well. Lengthy, piney hop finish. Great stuff.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with a white top. Huge hop aromas, pine, grapefruit, grass, light earth, citrus and a thin malt body. The alcohol is so well hidden in this vast array of hop characteristics, making it one incredible dipa. Awesome beer.

Bottle that came via Beermerchants/Cave Direct cheers Phil L.This beer poured a hazy orange colour with a lovely spicy, hoppy nose. What a beer a perfect marriage of bitterness and sweetness, in fact in the words of Richard Ashcroft this really is a ’Bittersweet Symphony’. There is grapefruit, light gingerness and a wonderful silky honeyness blending in. Whilst there is no denying the amazing hop bombs that constantly bombard the taste buds, this beer is quite an achievement, bloody marvellous and these sentiments were echoed by all who tried this beer, great stuff. 22 Oz Bomber from City Beer - SF
Pours a hazy golden orange with on off white head leaving very nice lacing - was that viscour pour :) maybe the hops and alcohol.
Aroma: A good blast of a variety of hop sensations tngy, piney, citrusy, earthy floral and spicy all the while a tiny bit of malt peeks thru with all this going on. The alcohol is present and warms up the nose.
Taste: wow! A hop-assault all kinds.Hop flavors gather in just a cacophonous way that oddly seems to make sense. The pine, resin, citrus, tang, spice and touch or caramel, toast and warming of the alcohol meld to make seriously tasty brew. With all this going on along with the mathematically IBUs this one is amazing in the sense it does not overwhelm the palate - a compliment to the malt backing this up.
Palate: Medium bodied with a nice long long lasting hop laden dry finish.
Overall: "Irrational Hop Exuberance" Another "Craaaazzy" good creation from Tomme’s crew. The alcohol in the beer sometimes is a bit distracting ... and I think the aroma is a little on the low side - oh! heck I am quibbling - a spectacular Double IPA (maybe Triple IPA or dare I say almost barley wine territory - but who cared) I would put this closer to Pliny the younger for my reference.
Definite MUST find especially if you are in CA - a wonderful treat
One one suggestion - DO NOT age this one - enjoy fresh

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2006 Pizza Port can seem to do no wrong when it comes to the Hop. This beer is no different. It’s a hop bomb. A wonderful, delicious hop bomb. If you liked Frank, you’ll love this --- it’s sister beer.

0.65 l bottle at Konttori, Tampere. Orange color with creamy head. Sweet and hoppy aroma with pine, lemon, orange, grapefruit and mango. Very hoppy bittersweet flavor with pine, grapefruit, lemon and menthol. Fair amount of sweet chewy maltiness also but it does not mask the hops. Excellent pungent hop character.
