Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Bottle. Nice cloudy orange copper pour with a nice white fluffy head. ARoma of hops, hops, and more hops. Some malt and citrus mixed in. Taste of a huge amount of hops and citrus notes. Nice alcohol burn on the way down. Very good.

Wow what a great IIPA! I don’t know how the west coast does it, but damn is this a great and drinkable beer. Aroma was nice. Strong pine and citrus hops. Don’t get enough of the piney hops here in the northeast. Pour was a nice medium amber with a one finger off white head. Taste was a hop bomb that expertly balances just enough caramel and dark malt to keep it drinkable. The hops varied from citrus to pine needles, but dried the mouth out and left a strong bitterness on the tonsils. Outstanding beer.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy deep red/orange with a thick foamy white head. Aroma of citrus and grapefruity hops. Flavor of a nice malt/citrus balance. Sweet caramel malt with the citrusy hops. As I continued to drink though, the alcohol presence became more dominant and the beer became a bit sweet/heavy. I don’t think this beer is too bitter or too hoppy, it is too sweet! Anyway, pretty comparable to most of the IIPAs I’ve had and I wasn’t blown away by it.

In the glass this IIPA stands out hazy orange with a fierce aroma of metal, grape and pine. The flavour is no doubt the most aggressively hoped I’ve ever tasted and it caught me a bit of guard in the beginning. Grape, lemon and citrus dominate, but you can sense the caramel in the distance. It’s extreme, but quite fitting for my chosen movie of the night: Asger Leth’s ’Ghosts of Cité Soleil.’

22 Oz Bomber from City Beer - SF Pours a hazy golden orange with on off white head leaving very nice lacing - was that viscour pour :) maybe the hops and alcohol. Aroma: A good blast of a variety of hop sensations tngy, piney, citrusy, earthy floral and spicy all the while a tiny bit of malt peeks thru with all this going on. The alcohol is present and warms up the nose. Taste: wow! A hop-assault all kinds.Hop flavors gather in just a cacophonous way that oddly seems to make sense. The pine, resin, citrus, tang, spice and touch or caramel, toast and warming of the alcohol meld to make seriously tasty brew. With all this going on along with the mathematically IBUs this one is amazing in the sense it does not overwhelm the palate - a compliment to the malt backing this up. Palate: Medium bodied with a nice long long lasting hop laden dry finish. Overall: "Irrational Hop Exuberance" Another "Craaaazzy" good creation from Tomme’s crew. The alcohol in the beer sometimes is a bit distracting ... and I think the aroma is a little on the low side - oh! heck I am quibbling - a spectacular Double IPA (maybe Triple IPA or dare I say almost barley wine territory - but who cared) I would put this closer to Pliny the younger for my reference. Definite MUST find especially if you are in CA - a wonderful treat One one suggestion - DO NOT age this one - enjoy fresh

Bomper thanks to Kegbear. Pours a golden orange with a light tan head. Aroma is heavy on the hops with hints of pine, citrus and some malt. Flavor is big with hops and pine with hints of citrus and some sweetness. Alcohol is well hidden for ABV. While it is a hop bomb I found it to have good balance.
