Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Very pale orange, lightly hazy. Aroma mainly of freshly peeled orange as well as some spruciness, lightly biscuity. Less intense aroma than expected. Flavor is acidic and highly citric, with a hesitant mention of florality, moderate EtOH presence. Light, generically toasted maltiness. A fruity, surprisingly moderate bitterness closes this off, albeit interspersed with little bursts of spicy, burning hoppiness. With the huge mass of ingredients that went into this, I was hoping for more.

An unclear amber beer with a lazing white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of hops as well as notes of grass and grapefruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of grass and grapefruit, leading to a dry grassy and very bitter finish.

Really, the only thing that isn’t that good on this is the aroma. Little floral or citrus, mostly it just smells strong. The flavor however is all that is great about San Diego/SoCal IPAs. Very hoppy, crisp and tasty. Love it.

On tap at Lost Abbey before RBSG on 08/02/2008. Slightly hazy orange amber body with a small creamy off-white head. Big floral and citrus hop aroma. Big citrus and resiny hop flavor, very fresh. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Beautiful smell, hops in every variety, citrus, pine, spices, and fruit. Appearance, dark ruby copper golden gorgeous. Nice white head. Flavor: pine hops and spicy hops. Palate is also full bodied and very bitter, dry bitter. Great beer. I do love hops a lot and this shows off some good ones but also almost over does it on the finish.
