decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Dec 25, 2007 On tap at PPC. An amber orange pour with a light off white head. Plenty of hops on the nose. Not much besides hops on the nose. A very nice hop profile that pushes the malt hard to balance it, hops are not over the top making it fairly balanaced. Carbonation and mouthfeel are excellent as well. Another damn fine IPA from these guys. It’s damn good. mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA Dec 7, 2007 Deep golden in color with a nice creamy white head that left a nice lacing on the glass. Fruity hoppy citrusy aroma. Orange and grapefruit notes. Malty and citrusy piney flavor. Grassy earthy notes. Medium bodied. Well balanced with malt and hops. Smooth tasting. Very nice beer. arjoseph (594), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 4, 2007 GABF 2007. Not as much a fan of this as I am the Lou P. Lin. Overall, muddled but nice. Freshness of the grapefruit hop quality emerges from the cracker malt which is prominent in the beginning of the finish. Not very bitter at all. The fruit flavors are an accent mostly to the dark dirty hops in the middle, which leave a dusty salty aftertaste. Definitely more down and dirty, less fresh than the Lou P. Lin. I would want a beer with this flavor profile to pack a bitter punch at the end, but it doesn’t. BBB63 (4198), La Porte, Indiana, USA Dec 4, 2007 Cask and handpull at PP Carlsbad: Clean golden hue with a big creamy head and very good lace. Big time grapefruity esters along with dusty biscuit, leafy, peppery, and a hint of buttermilk (but in a good way).
The taste has a fruity fruity acidity, resiny hops, and clove spice over a layer of pale malt. Near perfect hop vs malt balance! The mouth feel is oh so dangerous smooth and creamy with a moderate bitter bite around the edges. On cask this fricking ROCKS, oh so nice. I hope some other tried the cask version while in town for the SAF. glennmastrange (807), hobe sound, Florida, USA Nov 12, 2007 Tap. Moderate hop smells of pine and orange/grapefruit, with light caramel and broth for the malt and yeast, and a little cherry in the background. Head is creamy white, with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is amber/orange. Intense flavors start lightly sweet and acidic and a little sour, then the long finish is moderately acidic and heavily bitter. Palate is light to medium, creamy and has a lively carbonation. It finishes astringent and dry. This was both tart and fruity, a very unique DIPA. I liked it a lot. papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA Nov 10, 2007 Pint on tap@Port Carlsbad: Rich golden color with a small (bar pour) white head. Aroma of over-ripe pineapple and citrus. Flavor starts pineapple sweet followed by an orange/grapefruit tartness and a lightly bitter and dry grapefruit finish. Medium bodied and smooth with moderate carbonation. Nice job Jeff. csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Nov 7, 2007 GABF 2006-HUGE C-hops aroma with an abundance of citrus. Taste is widlflower honey & orange (just brilliant!) followed by floral and more citus. Thick mouthfeel. xmarcnolanx (789), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Nov 5, 2007 Huge pine aroma, sucrose and grapefruit. Taste is very grapefruit rind and caramel witj a great lingering bitterness. Nice floral aroma too! Very good
