trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA Dec 18, 2006 Updated: Nov 20, 2008Oily gold pour with a bubbly white head. Very nice lacing. Hoppy and resiny aroma. Lighter than expected mouthfeel. Nice piney hops that slightly outweigh the citrus, but gives it a nice bite. Smooth aftertaste with some stickiness.

11/8/08-Had again at PP-Carlsbad. Just as good, but more resin and pine oil in the nose and flavor. Creamier without detracting from the insanely good taste. jazz88 (2236), San Francisco, California, USA Dec 15, 2006 Tap @ Toronado 10/21/06. Golden amber brown color with an off white head. A smooth and seemingly light palate, but this beer has a bold spiced and fresh hop flavor. Quite nice. KAME (156), California, USA Dec 14, 2006 This was a very nice brew, and reminded me quite a bit of Pliny the Elder. Pours a dark amber, with a foamy white head. This is quite a piney IIPA, with floraly citrus undertones more evident in the aroma than the flavor. Finish is a lasting resin bitterness, but not overly harsh. The hop profile is quite complicated but very nice and keeps you interested. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA Dec 14, 2006 very very hoppy. bitter like whoa and LOTS of pine. no sweetness whatsoever. mouthfeel was very carbonated and very mouthpuckeringly bitter 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA Dec 4, 2006 I scored this fine brew at the strong ale fest vip beer setup. It was a very wet hopped brew that was my 2nd fav of the fest. huge hops in the aroma and body. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Nov 30, 2006 Tap @ O’Brien’s. Pours a dark amber color. Very hoppy skunky aroma I expect from a good 2IPA. Crisp piney hop character with some grapefruit peel for good measure. A little mal. Nicely balanced, yet quite bitter. peterstrongale (43), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 27, 2006 Warm amber color with fluffy white head. Aroma has hints of grass, mint, lemon zest, pine needles and touches of shampoo. Taste is full and has a refined dry herby edge with a well balanced bitterness of nice citric hops. TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA Nov 19, 2006 Draft at Falling Rock. Amber bodied. Sturdy white head. Solid lacing. Nose is wet, juicy hops, citrus fruits and some pine needles. Taste is rich, wet hops, pineapple, citrus oils, pine sap and caramel. Yummy! Body is medium-full with some oiliness on the palate along with a bit of stickiness. Moderate but firm carbonation.Ends with more juicy hop notes, pine, and gobs of citrus peels. Nice!
